What caliber are you using to get pass through shots on elk
I spoke with multiple folks on the subject when I bought my 270 after hunting with a 30-06 for for years (my dads gun). They said with new ammo you can use 243 on up to put down elk. Most ammo has 90% or higher retention weight now. I have shot my last 6 elk with my 270 and 145 grain Barnes... -

Really cool information. Thank you! I wish I had waited one more day becasue my buddy's deer had one almost as big with him and after the shot he stood up and waitied for like a minute before heading off on his own way. But happy with what the good lord gave me. -

Thanks Guys! Looking at doing a vacation up that way. We have hit Bozeman, Dillion, Missoula, Northwest section, Sydney, Plentywood, Miles City, a lot in the east and so on. Wanted to look at an area I have never been to. Great Falls interest me too.- Lab
