Congrats to her on getting a nice muley! Sounds like she knew where to go and what she wanted. Good on you for taking pics and packing out. Would the adage "Happy Hunting Wife, Happy Hunting Life" apply?
Congrats on a tremendous season! You have to be happy to follow up your great last year and succeed in all your goals this year with helping family. Great write up!
Congrats on a successful trip! The weather was a little warm for sure this fall. Was the 4th season significantly different in buck numbers and size versus your experience this year?
John- You should come over to ID and hunt. I hunt with some buddies that are vets or are still serving. We hunt an area in central ID that has good opportunity for deer and elk. I'd be happy to chat with you on the regs and what your looking for. Definitely should do a HT get together with some...
For any of you Idaho residents, they reduced the price on a non-resident elk tag down to $300 this month. How many guys on this site are going to take advantage of this?
Second, they didn't reduce the price on deer tags yet. I think they will, either in Sept. or Oct. They haven't even sold...
Still looking into stocks, haven't received any feedback from McMillans, I called stockystocks, but they couldn't answer my question. I'm interested in holding the Sako Hunter stock, just need to find out someone here that has one or is a distributor.
I ended up getting a great deal on a VX-6...
The idea that drawing a buck/bull tag with less than 5% odds, then complaining when you haven't drawn the tag after putting in for 10 years, shows me that people don't understand math or how odds work. Not to mention some of these hunts, over the 10 years of them putting in have now dropped down...
Ok thank you.
I just found out that HS Precision doesn't make a Model 70 stock with the vertical grip for the EW. I have emailed them to see if its a possibility. Any other suggestions for stocks that have a vertical or slimmer palm swell for the EW?
I just picked one up in .300 wsm for a really good deal. I fell in love with the HS Precision Sporter stock when I held one. Just wanting to see if anyone knows where the best place to buy them online is? I also plan on replacing the trigger with a Timney. Anything else I should look into? Plan...
I wanted to see if anyone on Hunttalk has drawn a bull tag before in unit 36a-1? I've had a cow tag for the area, but it was an leftover tag back in 2008. Those dates were in Nov. Having that tag proved why it was a leftover back then, elk numbers were way down. Seeing how I drew the bull tag...
I've had that tag 3 times, it is a tough hunt. I passed up quite a few forkies and smaller 3pts, because I wanted to shoot a 4pt with that tag. I ate my tag 3 times and don't plan on ever putting in for it again. I have no spots I can tell you have a bunch deer at during this timeframe. If I...
Well, the trip was fast and fun. Flew in on Monday, toured downtown, took the bus out to Ward Lake and camped. Tuesday we went out fishing with a charter boat and my daughter caught her first Salmon. She did well and caught the first fish of the boat and the last fish. All we caught were Salmon...
Thanks for all the great info. I chose Ketchikan this week because of the weather. Looks like Sitka & Seward will be raining. I will be back Thursday, I will get up a feedback report on how it went. My daughter(7) has decided she wants to go, so it might not be an all out fishing day, but it...
I want to go to AK and get in a day or two of fishing. I am thinking of flying into Ketchikan or Sitka next Monday and leaving on Wednesday to come back. I have the following questions for those that live in AK or have fished either of these places.
1.) Is it better to bring a fly rod and fish...
I drew....another PP, back to back years of striking out in WY. I still have hope of seeing a successful draw here in ID, hopefully by the end of the week. Congrats to those who drew tags!
