I'm not so sure it was the reloads. It came off of ballistics web sight. The home stead load I think and they have a hotter load in the reloading manual. Not saying I could not have made an error. I'm pretty good at them actually. Degree in Life of hard knocks. If you're not smart you gotta be...
Yeah I'm getting a new barrel for it. I was wondering if a overpressure load would do this or damage the receiver first if it was over pressure. What I'm trying to figure out is how did it happen.
I pulled the franchi affinity 20 gage out of the gun cabinet yesterday. And noticed a bulge in the middle of the barrel. A perfect ring and the barrel flaring out towards the end. The choke tube looks okay it thread's in and out and the others go in with out a lot of play.. l was on a grouse...
I have been finding quite a bit of 270 brass where I'm at. Even found large rifle primers and powder has been a lot easier to find lately. Hopefully the reloading supplies will get better. But yeah if you see what you want you better grab it while you can.
The pros to re barreling a rifle is that you can make it what you want as far as length, contour, twist, material. That the manufacturer my not offer in their product line. Just don't expect someone else to pay you back what you may have invested into it. Not that you can't it's just a lot...
I didn't know that the Tikka's we're that simple to change barrel's on. I knew the savage were pretty simple. I would like to build a 257 bob AI. Maybe I need to look at the Tikka. I just like the Winchester 70 because I'm more familiar with those.
Uh. Even water could be used as a lubricant. Anything that has a viscosity is a lubricant. water is a very poor choice but it is an excellent solvent. Some lubricant has a higher viscosity than others. BB is more of a grease with higher viscosity than that of a thin gun oil. But I'm no...
What everyone else's said is correct about bolt face and length. Also some times it's not worth the money to change it. It would be more costly than buying a rifle already chambered in the caliber you want. Like my Kimber 270wsm I put on a barrel with a faster twist to shoot heavy bullets but...
When my dad had his auto shop I would come down after school to help out. Everytime I would ask him what he's doing his response was asking me do you know what you get when you try to make candy out of shit? Me No. Pretty shitty Candy. I sure miss that.
The stock definitely looked better wirh a scrub down with mineral spirits and acetone.
But at this point it's obvious the gun seen way better day's.
So the next step is to take it down to bare metal finish and I'm going to send it out for a relined bore and color case Harding in receiver. Once...
Thank you p_ham for you're help.
It's obviously not gooder than the seller said on gun broker.
That's a shocker 🤣🤣.
Anyway I'm going to do a complete restoration on this.
For all those people that say you're going to ruin the value. My response is what value is a 120 yr old turd just too keep a...
I really don't know who all the celebrities are in the hunting game and really don't care. But if you're going to accuse someone of doing something that negatively affects their business. Well you better dam well have proof!! It's called slandering some one. Same with anybody's skills gained...
I never put bb on the actual sabot. Just a good wet patch of bb and then a dry patch thru was still enough to cause problems with sabots. If you're using lead conicals or round ball's then it's fine. Now I just use hoppies gun oil in my inline with sabot's. Bore butter says it will season a...
