How about quit voting for those who want to roll back our progress and protections on the places we live and love?
That is about as grassroots-y as it gets.
I too switched from year's of Thermarests to a Klymit inflatable last year, and I am a believer. I don't have any experience on Klymit's durability, but I like the product so far.
CamoFire has the Klymit inflatables on every so often. I think they had them on earlier today.
I also got a...
Highly enjoy 99% Invisible. One of those Podcasts where you actually are just a bit smarter at the end of it than you were when you started, and entertained.
The new one that just dropped is S-Town, from the producers of Serial. It is an interesting story, with great story telling of rural...
Also, it depends on what State you are looking for.
If you are looking for projects in Montana, they are everywhere.
If you are looking in Idaho, they don't seem to spend much effort. (and likely $$$$)
Here is the link.

Find the Idaho Department of Water Resources (or something like that) and look at their Sno-tel sites. They have measurements of how much snow are sitting in various spots.
I think the Mores Creek site should be pretty indicative of what 39 looks like.
Also, check out Web-cams for Atlanta and...
I always shake my head and give wide deference to guys carrying extra guns while hunting. I rarely want to pack my own gun, let alone be burdened carrying 2 of them around.
I have hunted with Grizzles..., with tracks everywhere, and quarters of meat being hauled daily. And never felt like I...
You can do a lot with a 6' spinning rod that breaks down into 2 pieces. Fits fine in a backpack, and you can get cheap ones at Wal-Mart.
Lots of fun in the high mountain lakes with a spinning rod and reel with a casting bubble and a dry fly on the end of it. He will have a blast.
There are so many good "off the shelf" rifles made these days, I would have a hard time justifying the effort to custom build one.
I built one rifle in my life, a .220 Swift, and, after doing all the work, machining, lapping, fitting, etc... I cam e to the conclusion that I can buy much...
Getting 14 mpg with a 5.7l in a 3/4 ton Mega-cab around town and a bit of highway. Better than I thought I would.
I don't think much over 15 is possible on the highway.
Just found the thread where we discussed the Imaginary Corporal driving his Ford Escort from Ohio to Idaho, threatening to stop by your house to administer a proper ass-kicking.
And somehow, his trip was delayed as he had to go to Wal-Mart for new tires for the Ford Escort.
I forgot what you...
Dang, I forgot about the Imaginary Corporal. Nothing more entertaining than telling him that you can make better Dutch Oven meals than he could.
Never seen someone more sensitive about cooking skillz.
That thread had a blast from a couple of the racists of old, that are actually...
I remember when the Cheese was starting threads to "edjumacate" us all on Survivial Skillz. And, MTMiller did a quick google search on one of his threads and the text was lifted from a 1950's manual for the CampFire Girls Camping manual.
And another thread where the Cheese was teaching us...
The irony was that I am sure Ithaca left because of his inability to suffer fools, which, upon his leaving, likely was the impetus for MuleDeer4Me and TenBeers to leave.
People who think "public land issues" just became popular never read the threads of the Fat-Assed ATV crowd like MD4me and...
How can you forget the pictures of the Cheese climbing out of his hole in the ground like Saddam?
"How to build a temporary survival hole in the ground with an axe, a pick, a pulaski, a shovel, a chain saw, a rope, a hoist, and other things typically found in your backpack".
And, lets not...
