    Catch All Fishing Thread

It has been a bit tougher this year, but we've still had fun. I obviously should have gotten in touch with @Bambistew as the Russian kicked out butt. Never seemed to be there when the fish were.

    2023 spring turkey!

My wife and I drew 2nd season tags here in CO for a unit we've done well in the past. We wouldn't have much time this year and it would be complicated by a 15 month old daughter. Friday night we set up the new popup camper near the SWA. I was up first, so at 430am I left the family asleep and...

    Ben's 2023 Semi-Live Hunt Log

I tried decoys on public for years and feel more effective without them. Just more stuff to lug around and they also make you more committed to a setup, which I think is a negative.

    CPW Commission updating 80/20 allocation

Amazing that we spot the error within seconds of looking at the list. Probably wrote a script to generate the list and forgot about float codes, then didn't sanity check the results.

    Summer camping ideas

Any alpine lake that is easy access within 3 hours of denver or going to be crammed with people. That said, I found some good, close not too busy camping on the front range last year while scouting for deer. The ticket was to have no reason to go there. No lake, river, peak etc.

    Vanish and FireTiger's 2022 Journal

Got out yesterday for my final hunt of 2022. We found a total of 9 birds, but 7 were hens. I was very impressed with how she held point given how little training we have done.

    Holy $#!#, I'm Tired.

10+ months in I still haven't figured this out, so if you figure out the secret sauce please let me know. I figure I have 3 hours of unscheduled time in the day, but that doesn't mean free time. That's split between chores, maintenance, the dog, time with my wife, and finally me time. Of course...

Are they even really kolaches, though? The kolaches I've had in Texas are barely relatable to the Czech originals.

This worked for my wife's first buck, a nice 2.5yr old 5x5! After sitting for a few hours, I looped around and pushed some nasty sumacs and two bucks dumped into the drainage in front of her.

    Vanish and FireTiger's 2022 Journal

Friday morning I decided to hunt my stand hoping bucks would be cruising. It was 16 degrees! Heck of a shift from earlier in the week. Well, sadly, all I saw was a lone doe around 830am which I think had been already bedded about 35 yards in front of me. She came in a bit but I don't know if...

    Vanish and FireTiger's 2022 Journal

With the forecast indicating a wind switch early in the morning, I didn't want to be in my stand with the feeling the winds would get squirrely. They would start coming from the south. I set up on the ground inside some pines, looking out over a trail just inside the grass line. Behind...
