Out of State Deer Hunting (Questions)(Advice)

Ask yourself some of these questions: Does length of season matter? Amount of tags available? Driving distance? Cost? Type of terrain you want to hunt? Time of year? Style of hunt? Weapon? Trophy potential? Game numbers / density?

Sound Off - 100% Debt Free

I just haven't seen the kind of market returns I see quoted here (10-13%) consistently over the last 20 years. Feels like a lot of "if you had put all your money in the best possible place" but you wouldn't have known the answer to that at the time.

    Vanish and Firetiger's 2023 Journal

I was able to get Ada out to look for birds yesterday. First stop when intended to hunt was temporarily closed when we arrived, which put us a little behind schedule, so our next spot already had a group working it. We found some corners that looked like they had promise, but were unable to turn...

    CO BGSS 2024

Agreed, that is phrased disingenuous. It is more like, "It may be more complicated for an R/NR to plan a hunt together." As far as I can tell, there is nothing preventing them from hunting together assuming their tags are both good in the same unit. 🤷‍♂️

    Ranching for Wildlife

FireTiger had a good experience on a ~5 point bull tag. I went with her and we had a lot of fun, tons of elk. That was way more important to her than a trophy bull though, so YMMV. That particular ranch no longer exists.

    CO BGSS 2024

As a resident, my instinct is: 5 > 6 > 4 > 3 > 2 >1 I feel like many residents will either have their "spot" or will self-regulate the pressure based on other hunters, meaning it is less necessary to control where they go. NRs are more likely to flock to certain areas based on past reports and...

Oklahoma 2023 thoughts I need to stop whining. I'm lucky I got to go. There were definitely more people than last year, but we were a week later. Some of the people were quail hunters. We really felt like, based on the sign, the deer were there, they just weren't moving in daylight. Many days...
