Glad to know how it works "in your mind." I can't speak for MT, but that's not how it works in WY. I can guarantee you that the road is not a perpetual public access. But I get a lot of folks like that out here -- drive right by the "No Unauthorized Motorized Vehicle" signs and then play dumb.
It depends -- a road on public land be be either public or private. It depends on what the easement states -- anything thing else you think you know about it is irrelevant. In my case, the easement explicitly states that no public or quasi-public access can be granted and that it is in fact MY...
Grading the road has nothing to do with public access or not. Some public roads are not graded (or at least haven't been in many years). I have a private road through public land that I personally pay to have graded, and NO you cannot travel on it.
Took my boys to it last week. Everyone liked it so much that they insisted on going again so my wife could see it. Just got back from a 2nd screening of it. Also, my wife loved it too!
I'm pretty sure that whatever they're charging $700 is a lot more than, "I saw a nice buck on Mt. Whatever last week."
Per their website for the Boots on the Ground Package. (Seems like a lot more than a beer for some intel.) I think this is precisely why Wyoming implemented the reg I cited...
But your point is well taken... don't shoot a sprinting antelope! At a speed of 60 mph, that's about 88 fps. At 100 yards, a 3000 fps bullet would take about 0.1 seconds to reach the antelope, during which time it would have moved nearly 9 feet!
I would bet a couple paychecks that they can exceed 55 mph. I've personally clocked them over 60. I've long believed that with the proper motivation (i.e. being chased by a cheetah), you would actually find that the pronghorn is in fact the world's fastest land animal.
How does this not violate Wyoming's hunting regulation Chapter 2, Section 20(d)?
"No person shall sell or barter any geographic location information for any big game animal, trophy game animal or wild bison to aid in the taking of any big game animal, trophy game animal or wild bison."
I run a Smittybilt X20 on my F250. Last elk season I high-centered my truck and an 18-ft equipment trailer 300 yards into a 400 yard wet snowdrift. There was NO daylight under the truck or trailer. I hooked to two trucks parked outside the drift and the winch drug my truck and trailer through...
We've seen lion scat before, but this is the first visual of a mountain lion on my property about 1.5 miles east of Laramie...the camera was about 100 yds from my house!
An update was posted to the Wyofile article yesterday, noting that the judge denied the request to limit public access to public documents:
Calling prosecutors’ motion to limit the distribution of public court documents a request for a “gag order,” Carbon County Circuit Court Judge Susan Stipe...
