See post #30: Post in thread 'County roads passing through private lands?' https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/county-roads-passing-through-private-lands.313443/post-3406600
If there wasn't a way to keep the public off, the State would have given me an exclusive easement so that I could keep the...
I have not found processing to make much of a difference -- granted I always field dress immediately. In 30 years of killing antelope from opening day of archery season to late fall, I've had one gamey one. I find mule deer to be highly variable no matter what. I've never had a bad elk or a bad...
I am SEEING more hunters, but I think that's more a function of the amount of downed beetle kill trees -- it's so hard to move through the timber that everyone just stays on the edges hoping the elk will step out.
There's has been an explosion of other recreational use...all the places I used...
Welcome from Wyoming! My boys have drawn youth permits in the Texas Draw Hunts twice -- I was in Colorado Bend SP last winter with my middle boy where he got his first whitetail. Glad to see you've been bit by the elk hunting bug!
On a side note, the biggest reason for decreasing draw odds is the increasing participation of residents. Our human population today in WY is essentially the same as it was in 2012 or 2013 but the number of resident applicants has gone from 26,592 to 38,113 --> an increase of 43%. Over the same...
I'm not sure how wanting to do away with NR rollovers and moving to only allowing one doe/fawn application in the initial draw period somehow equates to "none of you give a damn about the animals you're hunting." I've read your rant three times but can't figure out what you're advocating: do you...
In general, the specifics of my situation aren't relevant here. To the OP's point, it's getting much harder for residents (2010 - 6700 EXCESS resident buck tags, 2022 - 15,500 DEFICIT of resident buck tags). My additional point was that when the NR tag rollover was implemented, it wasn't really...
Nope. Huge jump in 1st choice applicants. I'm still trying to understand why: Thread 'What am I missing? Wyoming Antelope 38-2' https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/what-am-i-missing-wyoming-antelope-38-2.313717/
1) It's far from home.
2) My 3rd choice, a low public land area closer to home that I own property in, was a shoe-in (apparently not).
3) Hunting the inlaws ranch isn't always what folks would have you think
BUT
I would definitely rather hunt 26 than have no tag...we live antelope and its...
My third choice was a shoe in last year...much like 26. It just jumped 300% in first choice applicants this year. Thank you for your Minnesota wisdom, but I think instead I'll push for limiting NR opportunity...particularly in light of comments like this.
