    A small lake north of Grand Marais, MN today. This lake is usually ice free the last week of April. It’s May 2nd and I could have walked around out there. Not even any open water by shore. Plenty of snow in the woods yet also.

    I’m sure some wolves do eat spawning suckers, it’s an easy meal when they are in small streams but the sucker spawn is a 1-2 week event.     Thanks Jabber for putting this together. It’s fun even though I’m always out by the end of the second weekend. Just to help everyone out, my final four is Texas, Kansas, Creighton, Purdue. If your final four looks like mine I’d suggest making some changes based on my past performance.

    I just make sure that I hit the target. If I’m shooting 50 or 60 yards then I will aim at the center circle, that gives me room for error in all directions. I rarely hit the little black circle at 60 yards but that’s way beyond hunting range for me.

    I have a Mossberg O/U that was my favorite grouse gun until it started firing both barrels at once. I discovered it’s not an uncommon problem with them.

    FYI for recreation.gov users

    It looks like a class action lawsuit has been filed against recreation.gov. I use the site frequently, pretty much every time I go fishing in the summer I need to reserve a day use motor permit that costs me $6. If I cancel the permit I don’t get my $6 back, maybe this would change that...
