I purchased a barely used 257 wby vanguard this winter. I do plan on hand loading for it. However, to see what it likes I bought a box of wby ammo with 100 gr Barnes ttsx & 110 gr accubonds. The ttsx shot about 1.25" groups, accubonds just over 1/2", im going with the accubonds. Does anyone here...
I've used a solo for four years now. I just day hunt with it. Has plenty of spare room in it after I get all my items for day hunting in it. I'd say I've probably never used more than half of the bags internal capacity. I love the meat shelf, works great.
It is unfortunately part of the process. How 2 people heal is highly variable. I was in the fashionable immobilizer for 5 months before physical therapy started. I could/did go fishing, couldn't reel so I just pulled em up on the bank. Good luck with recovery
I had mine repaired along with a couple other issues including bone grafts & such. Was not a simple rotator cuff repair. He told me 12 months before I'd feel good again. He was not kidding, I didn't touch my bow for 9 months, had to drop the weight way down. I got pretty discouraged. Shoulder...
I have a 2015 crew cab 2500 with the 6.4l v8. In town I average 12-12.5 mpg, highway 16.5 mpg. When I tow my side by side on a small single axle trailer I get around 11-12 mpg. When towing our large travel trailer camper I get around 9.5 mpg. I had a dodge 10 yrs ago with the 5.7 in it. Got...
I also own a cpl ruger American. Neither are in that caliber. The stock looks cheap to my eyes. However, I bought them as truck guns that get beat up. Both are as accurate as any gun I own and function smoothly. I'd certainly buy another. No experience with the others you mentioned.
I hunt bears when I have the time, in other words throughout the day. I've certainly seen more bears in the afternoon & evening. However, I've seen enough in the mornings to warrant being out if my days hunting are fairly limited. I live close enough to where I hunt if I'll be able to get out...
I've never backpacked in bow or rifle. In my experience, where I hunt in southwest MT, the elk are much more accessible than during rifle season. The farthest I've taken an elk from my rig in bow season is one mile. During rifle it seems I generally don't see much sign until I'm a mile in. Like...
I had a 13.5' nrs raft & frame. I floated the Yellowstone, Madison, smith and a few others. For a day trip boat I felt 13.5' was about right. For the smith 14.5' would have been better. I loved where that thing would go. I can't wait to get another one.
I purchased this gun 4 years ago. Rock Rivers Arms website gives full description. In good condition, it has been used for coyote hunting. Selling as it's just too heavy to lug around the mountains. Would sell as bare rifle for $950. Or would include PEPR mount and Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40...

Hello, I am looking at getting a new rifle. I am looking at 2 specific guns: Montana Rifle Company x2 & Weatherby Wilderness, in 25-06. I have narrowed it down to these 2 for several reasons. Neither of these are what I would call common guns. I was curious if anyone who has handled or fired...
I hunted with a 7mm rem mag this year. It was my dads rifle that he handed down to me, a Remington 700, great gun. I own a tikka in 300 win mag, great gun also, very accurate. I used 160gr trophy bonded tip in the 7mm mag this year, very accurate in my gun. I shot a rag horn last week with it...
Took my 10 year old out, he gets to hunt spring bear here in MT. Was snowing off & on. Saw moose, elk, deer, bighorn sheep...and bear. Was a sow with 3 cubs, I'm guessing they're going to get booted soon, they were decent sized. The area we saw them has bear sign all over it, so we'll be back at...
So, I grew up primarily shooting deer/elk with a 7x57. When I graduated high school my dad bought me a 270, that is primarily what I now use. My son is 10 and can now hunt deer/bear here in MT. Fortunately, my dad gave me that 7x57. My brother reloads for me, however, he has no brass for this...
