I know there is a run along the spine of the bridger mountains, unsure of when that is. There is also one in the bighorn mountains near Sheridan, WY. I’m not certain of the lengths of either run. I believe you have a couple different options of distance for the bighorn run.
My brother hand loads 200 gr accubonds for me. He loads them to barely fit in the mag. I’ll agree with others that is somewhat of a hindrance. It shoots sub moa with these loads so I’ve no need for anything different. However, I don’t think you could shoot a much longer/heavier bullet without...
Agree with others on caliber. If punching paper go with smaller caliber. I hunt with mine so I have a tikka 300 mag. I put a Bell & Carlson stock on it, had it bedded and a muzzle brake. The gun was plenty accurate before swapping stocks it was just personal preference. I’ve shot & consistently...
I use the Sitka timberline pants, they’re pretty good. I’ll put long johns on under them down to just above zero. If it’s colder than that it’s pretty hard to beat wool.
Hey guys,
I'm headed to Custer national in SE MT this afternoon with my son for a couple days. I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea on road conditions. I have a side by side I'm toying with taking if roads aren't good. I'd rather not drag it over if the roads are in ok shape. Thanks...
My son is 11, he’s skinny weighing about 82lbs. Last year he used an old ruger 7x57, I started out with that gun when I was his age. It’s just a small, handy rifle. He also shoots my 270, which weighs 1.5 lbs more. He subjectively states “the recoil is the same dad.” If we’re hunting somewhere I...
I saw the update this morning & completed it. Still crashing when offline. So, yet again, I deleted prior saved maps & saved them again. It now seems to be working. I went out scouting this afternoon(no cell service) & maps all worked. It seems like poor business the way the last couple weeks...
I use mine for elk. I check them every couple weeks. There's usually a few hundred pics. Unfortunately, due to fires this year I can't check them. I put them out and 2 days later the area was shut down due to a fire several miles away. This is my 4th year using them and they've never gone 24 hrs...
I think anymore, as a general rule, it's safe to assume there MAY be a grizzly around if you're hunting anywhere in western MT. It's unlikely you're going to see one or have problems with one. However, they've been found in most mountain ranges in the last 10 years.
I have an iPhone 7 software version 10.3.3. I can save maps no problem. When I go to offline maps, about 5 seconds after I tap on offline button, the program shuts down.
So, for the 3rd time I downloaded a map. This time(about 10am this morning), it worked perfect. I've not had issues with downloading maps, they just didn't have any layers on them. This morning, they have all the info I intended including land ownership. I did lose a cpl waypoints in the...
Mine is downloading maps fine. However, downloaded maps don't have property boundaries which are rather important to me. I also have to set layers every time. All in all not crazy about it. I'm hoping they fix the saved maps not having property boundaries. If not I'll cancel service I guess as...
I've used .270 on many deer and elk. Never shot an antelope with it. I've been using the federal 130 grain trophy bonded tip for a number of years. In my gun these rounds are very accurate and work great on deer & elk. Before trophy bonded tips I used fail safes which I still complain they quit...
I hunt in southwest MT. If no snow on the ground I use boots(lowas). Once there's snow I use my PAC boots. I feel in my boots I slip more than in my PAC boots once there's snow on the ground. That's just my personal experience, others will differ. The small group I hunt with do it the same way.
