Hey guys,
I wanted to wrap up this thread with the addition of the videos from this hunt. I received Randy's permission to post these. The first link is the elk video and the second is the antelope portion of our hunt. Hope this gets you excited for fall!
Elk Hunt...
I think it makes a nicer crop when it can't fit the entire melon in the shot. One of the biggest things I dislike is when wildlife photographers simply frame the neck and head in the center of the photo and leave a margin around it. For some reason it's just not my favorite composition...
Met Corey at the Hunting Expo in SLC. Great guy with a great attitude. He presented on elk calling and I wish I had it recorded. Seems like a natural partnership for sure.
My friend Shayne and I attended since we were in the Film Festival held at the show. Drove over 1800 miles round trip but it was definitely worth it because we came home with an award and made a lot of new friends! I wish I would of checked in on here prior so I could have met some of you but...
Yeah all of those things you listed are awesome. I'm especially excited about potentially fishing for salmon. You make a great point about it being easy to go back home. The tough part is all the family experiences we will miss out on.
Couldn't agree more. I always encourage people to move away from home after college or at some point. My wife and I moved to Omaha, NE right out of college and it has helped us grow being that we had to figure everything out ourselves. We know at some point we want to go back home but not sure...
Well we survived our trip out to Yakima. I want to thank everyone for the helpful tips and suggestions! We flew into Seattle Friday at noon. Met my brother for lunch and drove to Yakima that afternoon. Stayed at the Red Lion (past it's prime but nice people and quiet). Had supper at the bar...
I have heard this from others as well. That being said I may not have a choice so I might have to roll with cards I am dealt and make the most! You bring up good points though.
Wow, thanks for taking the time on the map. I am definitely going for a drive and checking these areas out. I will bring my camera and will see what I can capture.
Again thanks for taking the time to make the map. Very much appreciated!
My wife has a medical school interview in Yakima, WA this Saturday. I basically have the morning and early afternoon to explore. Not knowing much about the area I figured I would post here to see if anyone had suggestions on stuff to check out? I found some info about an area called Oak Creek I...
I wish I could go to the Backcountry Show in Spokane but not sure the dates work.
What reasons do you boycott? I honestly haven't heard much about it that's why I ask.
How hard is it to find them on public land? I have read about other hunts on a refuge where it was difficult to find a cow and requires horses to get through snow. Your hunt looks different though.
My friend Shayne and I were looking at attending the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo in Salt Lake City on Feb 19-22. Curious if any Hunt Talkers were planning on attending and if people feel it is a worthwhile show to attend? If there are a few HT's it would be fun to have a gathering.
