Thought it would be neat being from Missouri to start a thread for whitetails in my region. Look through the photos and take a walk down memory lane and share some pictures/ stories of some awesome midwest whitetail.
I think the upgrade is going to be sooner rather than later. I stopped last week at a local bow shop and talked with the owner. I shot the new bowtech revolt and revoltX. Man do you wanna talk about smooth and I believe it felt lighter pulling back at 72 pounds maxed out vs the 60 on my...
I hadn't thought about the roads being so narrow. I am gonna have to make sure to investigate which roads I am most likely to take so I know. That is why I am leaning towards taking the UTV.
I think from the opinions I have heard I better leave the new one at home until it is not so new. Which means I will take the feed truck which is probably better equipped since its spends more time off road than on road. It's already got 10 ply tires. It's a dually so idk if that is a plus or...
What broadheads do you all prefer for elk mechanical or fixed? Here in whitetail country I have always used mechanical. I have led myself to believe that the mechanical fly better than fixed. I dont personally have any way to prove that.
I currently do most of my hunting with my bow which is a Matthew's Reason. I believe it's like an 09 model. The cams are a little jumpy but it shoots pretty good. It's pretty fast but also pretty loud. I keep thinking it's time to upgrade but haven't pulled the trigger. Most of my hunting is...
There are so many lifted trucks and decked our jeeps around me. The closest they ever come to being off road is when whoever is driving is paying to much attention to their phone and drives over the curb. I have also noticed an increase in land rovers and range rovers. Doesnt seem like they...
That is true. I hadn't thought about that. But if I could do one trip with the SxS and do it respectful it could definitely be easier on the surrounding animals.
I have an 04 super duty that might make the trip versus the GMC. Just dont know that I want the heavy diesel trying to get through the mud. But I am with you I do love my fords. But my wife also really likes driving the GMC. Heard something once about happy wife happy life.
I am planning for elk. And looking at units 90 or 94. I dont plan on trying to use it for retrieving any animals. Like I say I haven't done any hunting out there and just want to try to make sure I am prepared for anything.
I just wanna say thanks to everyone pitching in their opinions and ideas. Being a new guy to the forum and new to hunting out west it is awesome to be able to bounce ideas off people that have been there done that. I can only imagine how different it is gonna be from sitting in a tree stand...
I can understand that. I think alot of people just dont use their brains when it comes to being respectful even though it is public ground there are still ethics involved. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can get more info about rules for UTV's in certain areas and on roads in...
I am kicking around the idea of a bed cover. Or have also thought of getting a camper shell to use just for hunting trips to give a little more room and some extra cover to get out of the elements with out trashing the cab.
That was my other concern. I will need to do more research before that time gets here. That way I can make sure it would even be worth taking the sidexside.
