Yup, elk and venison. But this was the first year I passed on several smaller bucks (some on the last day), so it will taste a little less bitter. I also got to help friends and family get their first deer and I get to hunt wolves until spring. Life is good regardless of the lack of antlers this...
Like a lot of people on here, I do mine myself. The first deer I did was based solely on Meateater guides, as my family had always dropped them off somewhere. Looked like Helen Keller cut the steaks, but its gotten easier since then. I think its fun if you have some good beer and good company.
I use the free one from vortex
Pros: nothing flopping around, quick access for the wind checker and calls, feels real tactical and s**t.
Cons: sometimes can be loud sliding the binos in and out, my chest sweats under it, I look like a giraffe being born when I put it on.

We just got her first turkey this evening. In fact it was my first turkey, but I wanted her to take the shot. She delivered a perfect shot, right through the neck. There were birds flying all around us, but she stayed cool and focused on her target. So happy to finally get one of these...
Actually the three deer were shot on two different trips. This one we found about 15 minutes from home in a very popular area. We scouted it this summer and realized the topography keep most hunters out. We are lucky to live where we do!
My buddy got his buck Saturday afternoon, just in time for the freezing rain to start. He wanted to get him out whole, so we lashed it to a pole and got it 1.5 miles before we had to stash it and get to the truck. Wet clothes, high winds, and dropping temps forced us out. Went back the next day...
Great info on this thread. I've been staying active and doing some suggested stretches. I've put on some miles in some tough country this year and have been doing great. Thanks for all the contributions everyone.
