Usually always ends two weeks before the end of general deer/elk but this year it ends three weeks before. Just trying to figure out if the regs are accurate or if some FWP employees are agonizing over who gets to send their boss an email over another screwup.
I’m assuming I missed the commission proposal but looking in the regulations it appears that 2024 general antelope is a week shorter than typical. Not going to complain but there hasn’t really been any communication about it from Fish and Game. Maybe they’ll apply this common sense to deer...
I don’t remember the NRA being blamed for school shootings. I do recall them being blamed for constantly preventing any meaningful dialogue to find a solution.
Drew the 270 permit two years ago. Didn’t see any monster deer on public but it’s a pretty great experience to slow walk the timber and see tons of deer. Dozens of bucks a day. There was value to us in knowing we were some of the very few that could legally harvest a MD buck in the unit. Worst...
He sounds to me like a poor fisherman looking for someone to blame. Typical R state legislator beating on their favorite punching bag: the state fish and game agency. Always on the lookout for a straw man.
The guy on the four wheeler is enforcement so I doubt it. But I bet Chris tripped all over himself justifying his actions to his contemporaries. Actually he probably didn’t need to justify his actions to other outfitters as most of you are doing the exact same thing.
I used to think all of the current dysfunction at FWP was intentional in an attempt to eliminate whatever credibility the Agency had left and encourage employee resignation. No credibility or employees makes it pretty easy to completely disregard the Agency and any of their management decisions...
I‘ve been to the corner. There’s a 20’ diameter cedar that appears to have grown dead center of where the corner pin would be. Have yet to see the packable ladder that would get you over that.
I guess I’m more concerned somebody with good intentions starts a GoFundMe trying to help out. I also understand innocent until proven guilty but also know the suspect. Doubt the Attorney General charges something this minor without pretty good evidence.
Knowing that specific corner on G/T and Sangray, hopefully no one tries to use this case as the MT litmus test for corner crossing. This is not the one to do it on. No GoFundMe or anything. If Sangray is found guilty, the AG’s will crow about how this is proof that corner crossing is an illegal...
I expect with that language being added back the number of applications goes down next year. I know one of the 2023 ranches has ~1000 acres of deeded and abuts a couple thousand acres of landlocked BLM. Rarely elk on the deeded but always on the BLM. Bet that permit gets used off the deeded ground.
Friend of mine got drawn for one of these. Landowner got two either sex permits in a very tough to draw district. In return they let six hunters on to shoot cows with super restrictive side boards. How do they not have to let others with the permit on for bull hunting. Bizarre, broken system...
