    Any Montana bulls down?

Shot Tuesday night out of the thick and nasty North end of the state.

    How late is decoying effective?

I'd stray from the antelope but if you can make or get a cow decoy it should help you get close.

Good luck man. That should be an awesome hunt!

    Taxidermist grace period ?

Taxidermy seems to never get done ahead of schedule. Most guys have more work then they can handle even if they do average work. I just stopped by my taxidermists place last week and looked through all the elk upstairs, DAMN! It's pretty insane and the big money stuff gets done first. Unless...

    Calling Bears?

I've called one in the last two years. It takes a lot of stands sometimes but you usually aren't disappointed when you get on to commit. I usually call for at least 20 minutes but my two call ins came in within 5 minutes. I feel like you need to be within 800 yards of them usually to get them...

    Bear activity in Montana

Plenty of bears out. Saw three this year and shot one back on the 26th.

    MT bear

I'm actually really surprised there hasn't been many (any???) bears post up here yet. We took our good friend into one of our spots back on the 26th and put this guy down with the smoke pole. Saw two the last two days but have been trying to get on with a bow. Snuck to within 30 last night...

    day pack?

Mystery Ranch Longbow or Metcalf. You'll never need another pack for any trip less then 3-5 days in my opinion. Yes they are expensive but you'll never wear it out.

    MT bear

We got our good friend a pretty nice one last Friday. Still a little ways away though as far as the real good hunting is concerned.

    Maps - Hardcopy

Keep this thread going. Maps are a huge part of our success and I've learned a couple things here already. Google Earth and AcmeMapper are our current favorites and soon we'll add in the Hunting GPS Maps with land ownership.

    Trichinella

Ya the 100% statistic being thrown around is completely false. My brother shot one this past spring that was 9 or 10 and came back negative for trich.

    Laying Steel!

I'm sure a bunch of us would appreciate it if you could go into more detail on how your setting your traps for wolves from selecting an area to the actual set.

    Liver, Heart?

I might try the heart at some point. To think that what you leave in the field goes to waste is kind of silly though. Bears, coyotes, fox, bobcats, wolves, crows, magpies, among others will take care of the rest and I sure would call it wasting.

One mans junk is anothers treasure!

I thought you'd be giving stuff away in this thread. You should have said "one man's used gear..."
