I should do some more digging, but my understanding on the connected services is that the subscription is the "user agreement" that allows them to collect, package, and sell your information to 3rd parties. There are varying "levels" of the connected services. Toyota recently extended the free...
Carbon is not an isotropic material like steel, so the orientation of the fibers and the makeup of the epoxy have a huge effect in both it's mechanical and thermal properties.
I'm not an optical engineer, but I believe I read somewhere that there are a few more lenses involved with FFP scopes and glass is fairy heavy. There is a ZCO thread over on the hide where they are expressing speculation and desire over a lightweight offering from them. One of the vendors (the...
I'm not shitting on carbon wrapped barrels, I have 3 of them. But a big part of that is being able to thread them properly and still be relatively lightweight. Also, I think they look pretty baller.
I think that you're correct, although I would look at th Youngs modulus and the moment of inertia as the mechanical and geometric properties of your barrel that would effect the outcome the most.
What I'm not so sure of is at what point do those differences become decernable. I you have 2...
To be honest the only custom barrels I have had spun up have all been Remington varmint contour or greater. I currently have 2 proof carbon barrels that both seem a bit picky, and a bartlein carbon fiber I don't have as much time with. So I can't make any personal claims about long shot strings...
Having enough diameter at the muzzle for properly sized threads and looks are pretty much the advantages a carbon fiber barrel has over a skinnier contoured steel barrel. If you are really looking to go as light as possible then a skinny steel tube will win.
I did see a thread somewhere else...
Google earth. Put the terrain exaggeration (forget the proper term) on 2x and if you look at it and say "that's not too bad" you're probably going to be screwed.
Next time you go to the range I would still confirm for yourself that you don't have any issues with your zero shifting when removing and remounting. Most quality suppressors have little to no decernable shift, but it's personally something I would check for myself.
I know this is the internet and all. But what is amazing to me is how many people will comment on subjects they obviously know absolutely nothing about, and then talk down to people who have made different gear choices based on their needs and preferences.
I'm pretty sure it's mostly just burning alot of fuel getting up to temp. Having theinformation right there on the screen compared to my old truck just makes it super obvious. Did a 200ish mile road trip last weekend and averaged 16.5. I've got pretty big and heavy tires so I think that's...
@FI460
I'm just over 7k.
This cold has been absolutely raping my gas mileage. Part of it may be that I didn't have this information with my last truck and i justdidn't realize it. But over the summer I would usually average 20mpg on the 5 mile trip home, it's downhill at around 45-55 for most of...
I'm averaging around 16.5 mpg on the highway with the 285/75-18 E rated toyo AT3s. It seemed to be more around 17.5 when the Temps were warmer. Going back and forth to work I was averging around 17 mpg before the temps dropped. It's more like 14 now but it really doesn't get up to temp in the...
I enjoy how this thread devolved into someone justifying not having a safe full of rifles by explaining how he doesn't use the right tool for the job in any other aspect of his life.
