    What Sausage stuffer

I've used the Cabela's and another, forget the brand. Hand crank is horrible, and the motored one I had the gearing stripped out twice. Went to the Dakotah Water Stuffer and it's awesome. A 2 person job to run but they all are really, especially when feeding snack stick casings. If we...

    What's on the smoker today?

Not trying to hijack the thread or start a fight here. Just, wondering if anyone else is underwhelmed with the results from their pellet smokers? I've used a homemade wood burner for 20 years and my brother convinced me to get a pellet smoker. I've tried and tried and tried to get enough...

    What's on the smoker today?

This was actually the spring load, 180lbs of pork butt. A couple weekends ago was 140lbs of butt, a brisket, and a turkey followed up by 25lbs of baccon and the roaster cooled. Should make it through winter now....

    Which one of you bastards . . . .

Ellsworth Cheese Curds and Spotted Cow. Good to live in WI! It's a little drive to go right to the creamery now and get them fresh from the vat, but..... They are building another creamery in Menomonie WI, just so happens to be on the route of my commute.

How did you learn/resources for processing your own game.

Learned from my dad way back when. Like to think we've improved on the process over the years. Nice thing with north American big game is they are all pretty much come apart in the same manner.

    Who Processes Their Own Game

We've done our own for years, decades I guess. Started with boning them all out ourselves and taking the trim to be processed elsewhere. Now we grind, season, stuff, smoke all our own, or any combination of that. Never really trusted the local butchers with the animals, and the signs on...

    Wisconsin Rifle Season

I used to get super amped up about opener, not so much any more. I will be hunting tomorrow, Dunn Co., but not what it used to be for sure. Lots of big buck on camera, will see what falls tomorrow. I think part of the change in the hunt is a lot of the older hunters are gone. I remember...

How do you sight in your guns?

Lead sled, controlled breathing. I shoot from 100-500 actual yards and record the ballistics/clicks on the scope and make a cheat sheet to put in my shell holder on the stock. Update 1: Also use the level-level method on the scope mounting. Update 2: Also check at 300 yards with different...

    Hello from WI

Born and raised in WI and loving it. Been hunting since I was a kid and was introduced to "hunting out west" by my brother back in the early 90's when he lived in WY. First hunt was WY antelope and have been hooked ever since. Have hunted antelope, mule deer, and elk all around the west...

    Hunting, planning, and the economy

My brother and I cashed out our CO antelope points last year and and will not be starting again. Going to put that money towards antelope in WY instead. We do each have 22 points for elk and mule deer in CO, need to find the best way to use them then we are done with that too. Will go over...

    Hunting, planning, and the economy

I also just found Fresh Tracks on Prime and have been binging through the seasons. Did not draw any tags out west this year so it's been filling my lack of actual hunting with them. Lots of great insight and very refreshing to have "real" hunts represented on film. Hope to learn some stuff...
