Picked up one in 308 in lefty 3 years ago when a local dealer went out of business to replace my aging 760 pump that I had used since i was 12. Shoots great, feeds good, no issues, took a bit to get used to the trigger but like it now. Strictly my WI deer gun, and varmints of coarse...
Very mind boggling when you do the math. Yes, our focus is on the deer right now as I have noticed that we can pretty much draw what we want with 25pts. Spent a bunch of time last night on the CO Hunting Atlas Map looking at private/public access, lots to sort out there. Will plan to talk to...
Thanks to all that have offered positive advice and good reality checks on this thread so far, the above are just the latest 2 examples of such.
Things that have been learned, remembered, or confirmed so far:
4 hunts, confirmed for multiple reasons
Different units for deer and elk, learned...
This poor guy ran down the hill at 2pm opening day and stopped at 80 yards in one of my good openings, stood broadside just a moment too long and let me put 180gn through his chest cavity. Stumbled down the hill 30 yards and did a Snoopy Slide. From the time I heard him coming down the hill to...
Oh I will, was a little sarcasm there that did not come through in the post I guess. She loves the west, national parks, hiking, etc. It will be a good vaca....
That was sort of a plan for this summer, make a scouting/summer vacation to CO for a week. Just need to figure how to explain all the "detours" along the way to the GF so she does not figure out the true purpose of the trip...
Yes,, i have hunted elk and deer in the west. Way more suseesful on deer than elk. A slam dunk would be nice but not expected, that would be called killing not hunting. Looking for some good times with my brother with the potential for a trophy. The older I get its more about the hunt than...
Yup, no clue, CO is the only state that has either of those strange critters to go after. If I remember right CO takes your points if you go OTC too, isn't that right? So ya, never hunted them...
Nice jab, I like it!
Yup, lots of time has passed since my brother first said. " why don't we put in for elk and deer points in co?" He was living in wy at the time. Lots of things change over 25 years.
Our thoughts are to divide it up into 4 hunts, do deer first, learn a unit on the deer hunts and get some insight for elk hunts in the following years. Hoping for a good unit for both that would be more favorable for elk.
What would you do with 25 points for Elk and Deer in CO? This is not a trick question this is my
reality, and my brother's too.
I know, I know, this is just another one of those threads where I'm open to ridicule for collecting
points for this long, have at me with your best shots if you...
