Good luck with that. That’s the problem with the “creep.” You think your almost there and next year it takes 1-3 points more than it did this year for the same tag. I’ve been doing it for 10 years. LOL.
True. But if it were me I'd have picked a lot more desirable hunt requiring higher points. But I don't know their situation. I sure hope they had a good hunt though.
Congrats on a good shot on a nice elk! And it's nice that you received a big sincere helping hand too. It gives us hope for humanity (until a troll responds to your post).
It's still an awesome elk and a great story. Thanx for sharing!
My elk rifle has your (#1) & (#2) also. Mine has a 24" barrel with a slim line muzzle brake that adds about 2". It's the same outside diameter as the barrel is so it doesn't look like a "pickle on a stick." So it's Long and Loud!
I dislike carrying it through thick brush, but love it for out...
300stw,
Sorry to hear that. It’ll probably hurt for a while, but it will subside. Time heals all wounds.
I never saw mine coming either. She walked in, said she wanted to talk, told me she filed for divorce, and was gone within the hour.
Since then I have a saying: “Women. Can’t live...
I'm not sure it ours would be considered a vacation home. We live in SE Michigan and we have a lakefront cottage Up North. It's about a 2-1/2 hour drive (165 miles away). We average using it about 40 days per year. Early on it was up to 60 days per year, but the boys grew up and went to...
AGREED!!!
When I started this points it took 7 points to draw a NR elk tag in Unit 201. I did miss one year of applying when they moved the application date up by a month. Other than that I’ve never missed applying for a preference point every year since. Now I have...get this...27 NR elk...
Cheeser,
No disrespect to you intended in the least. My apologies if you took it that way.
But bears that big in MI just don’t seem to exist. By that I mean a bear over 700 pounds. And looking at the pic and then the video it didn’t appear to me that the bear was big enough to be over 700...
KayakMacGyver,
Awesome write up and pics. Thanx for sharing. I had four buddies go gator hunting for the first time in August. They all scored. I didn’t end up going due to work. ☹️ But it is on my bucket list now for sure.
I just bought a place in Florida this year. Hopefully I can make this...
Cheeser,
You should watch the video that you posted. The guy in the video states that he weighs “614 pounds” while it’s laying on a scale...ungutted. That would be the live weight. Not 640-650 dressed, and certainly not “around 730 pounds live weight.”
I stand by my statement...it’s “B.S.”...
I’m calling B.S.! I’ve heard nothing about this bear on our local hunting forums.
I live in Michigan. This same/similar story ran back in 2010 and I didn’t seen any credible evidence that it was true.
Bears that big are like unicorns in Michigan. Wisconsin does get an absolute monster or...
I also took this Mule Deer in CO a few years back with my .257 Bee from only 52 yards. I’m not sure what bullet I used. But I do remember that it was moving and I shot it in the neck. At 52 yards the bullet literally exploded and there was no exit hole(s). But it was laying in a puddle of...
