It’s point creep. Nobody started this game thinking it would take 10 years, let alone 25+ years.
The DOW keeps changing the rules throughout the years. And each change results in it taking more years for the same tag than it did before.
Like I said in an earlier post. When I started this...
Elk247,
Great job getting it done, especially solo. And thank you for the detailed write up and pics. It felt like I was right there with you.
Congratulations!!!

wllm1313,
No offense was taken. We have the same perspective. I've camped out of a backpack a number of times back in there. And I've learned a lot every time. There is no placement for good old fashioned experience.
And I didn't even touch on the my most difficult aspect...the proper...
Good luck with that.
I’ve been in GMU 24 for 2nd season elk, and we were NOT on the tops. We got 16” of snow in 24 hours. We were backpack camping and it was no fun trying to get out. I would keep a very close on on the weather.
Again, good luck.
This is the best truck I’ve ever owned. It’s a 2005 Chevy Avalanche. I put over 100,000 miles on it before my first brake job. I sold it with over 180,000 miles on it with now major issues at all. Whenever I see a list of the most reliable trucks the Avalanche is always at, or near, the top...
I don't know...multiple reasons. Kinda had my heart set on GMU 201; stubbornness; and I've been going on many other hunts throughout the years. Since I started this chase I've hunted CO a few times, NM a couple times, WY a couple times, Alaska, Ontario and Alberta, Canada, and Iowa this...
I shot this from 390 yards (lazered) with one shot from my Weatherby Accumark using factory Weatherby ammo w/ 110 Grain Nosler Accubonds. DRT! (Sorry for those who've seen this posted before.)
I have the utmost confidence in this gun, and ammo. (More than I have in my own shooting ability...
That's a GREAT article! Thanx for posting.
This is exactly why I have 27 NR Elk points in CO and still can't draw the tag I want. And in all honestly, it'll probably be another 10 years before I have a real chance to draw it.
This is my weekend warrior (hunting) truck. It's a 2017 RAM 2500 Tradesman w/ a 6.7 Cummins turbo diesel and an 8' box. It'll tow anything, and give you a sore back at the same time. LOL. (I don't own a car.)
Now I drive this one. It's the new 2019 RAM 1500 Limited w/ a 5.7 HEMI, and 6'4" box. It's like a frickin' spaceship inside with all the electronics and 12" touch-screen. I'd be lying if I didn't say it wasn't distracting to drive though. I got the 4x4 Off Road package and the tow-package...
I had a 2015 RAM 1500 Edodiesel Limited, w/ 6'4" box, and loved it! It was a beautiful truck inside and out, rode like a limo, got incredible mileage, and I was always getting complimented on it. I drove it for three years and put almost 80,000 miles on it and never had a single issue with it...
