I shot a black bear in WI last fall. The meat was very good and I would describe it as somewhere between beef and pork. IMO it was better than venison.
I had steaks, roasts, and breakfast sausage.
I think you should buy a tag and go try to get a bear.
He's probably using the money for his hunting trip.
When he gets back you should talk to him. If no progress is made, then go pick up your hide and and ask for a refund minus any costs he has into it.
Then have Phil Soucy or Ashley Barrett mount it.
I'm looking for the most scenic.
I would probably stay near the north end of Yellowstone. Spend a few days around Yellowstone and then head down to the Tetons for a few more days. I know that's not a lot of time but that's what I have to work with.
It sounds like the Beartooth highway is the...
I'm planning a summer vacation to Yellowstone and I'm looking for some help/advice on which route to take from the Bighorns to Yellowstone. I am not planning to go back through the Bighorns on the way home.
From I-90, I could go 14, 14 to 14A, or 16 and I want to end up in Cody. If you could...
I have the Kuiu Icon Pro 3200 and use it for antelope and mule deer day hunts. It works great for me and I have no complaints. I have the 1850 bag also and IMO it will work for day hunts but I found it a bit on the small side especially when it gets colder out and I need to carry more clothes...
IMO the safest way it could be done without freezing and to prevent spoiling is to turn the eyes, ear, nose, remove the cheek glands, flesh and salt. After about a day of salting most of the moisture should have been drawn out.
If you can't do that I would freeze it solid in a freezer or in a...
If you have the side focus/parallax adjustment on your scope that could be your problem. You might need to adjust that at the higher powers to get a sharper picture of the target.
Get a map of the West River units and start going through last years draw results to get an idea of where you could possibly draw with 1 point and how many points it would take to draw where you bow hunt. Since you already have knowledge of where you bow hunt you might want to try and draw that...
This is what my hunting partner and I have done in the past and again this year. The last time I drew 2 doe tags from 2 separate applications and he drew 1 doe tag from 2 separate applications.
The smaller ones go together just like the bigger ones.
You should pick a pose you like. Figure out if you want a right turn, left turn or straight. I prefer turns. Usually I look at the rack and choose a turn that shows off the rack the best. For a smaller deer you might want the ears back...
I'm sorry for the confusion. I thought you couldn't do that - not sure why I thought that. I checked the Application 101 and called Game & Fish and it is possible, obviously since you are doing it.
You will also need to be cognizant of season dates in a given unit and the different tag types. Make sure you understand what a type 1, 2, 6, 7, etc. tag is (some tags are only good on private land).
You need to look at last years odds for the non-resident doe antelope.

Then look at this years proposed quotas.

Then look at a...
I looked at those 2 scopes last year and ended up buying the VX3i with the 30 mm tube from Schmalts. I have it on a Remington 700 BDL 7 mm. I haven't used Vortex scopes, but I have used Leupold and I have not had any problems so I didn't see a reason to change brands. I shot a few deer with...
I have tried a few different fixed blade and expandables over the last 20 years - some worked well and some not so well. For the last several years I've been using Muzzy 3-blade, 100 grain and have killed a lot of deer, turkeys, and a bear with them. I like the trocar tip, replaceable blades...
It sounds like the fleshy material was only partially removed or not removed at all.
If done correctly, there shouldn't be any odd smells.
Here is what needs to come out when doing a horn mount, European, or shoulder mount.
I have the Icon Pro and I like it. It's the only pack I have owned and tried so I can't compare it to others. For the price and for what I use it for it works well.
