Another good morning out there. First little bit of sheet ice close to shore today too. Mixed bag, but got the teal trifecta (gwt, bluewing, and cinnamon). Looking forward to going again in the morning.

    I wouldn't change a thing...

You might want to tell your son that there's more than one "keeper" in those photos. Congrats on a great morning with family.

I'll take some my next time out. It has definitely been some trial and error to get it where it's at. I'm pretty happy with it.

Yesterday was good to me so I went again. I know, I am a glutton. It was a little slow, but I made my opportunities count with a mixed bag. First pintail of the season too.

Took the morning off from work. Went back in deep again. Ended up getting there about 30 mins later than I planned due to an access area being newly closed. But, still squeaked out a nice mixed bag. Having a morning like this makes my afternoon full of work meetings a little more bearable.

My brother always said, "If you're going to be stupid, you had better be tough." An example of working smarter, not harder.

Now That Is A TIGER TROUT!!!

Gorgeous fish! I was fishing a lake in the Uintas a few weeks ago that has a lot of tigers. I was catching dozens of fish in the 10-15 inch range. Then I saw a giant approach my offering. That thing had to be 5+ lbs. I about pooped myself. It turned away after a sniff. The thing rose from the...

Sorry for the struggles. I have been there on some levels and it sucks. You have been busting your tail to try to recover him. Hang in there and keep your chin up.

    The Trenches

I vividly remember the newborn stages with my three kids. Traumatic for me. It is still triggering when I hear newborn cries. Sleep deprivation, not knowing what the F you are doing, so much crying, my wife losing her mind. It was awful for me. I remember driving to Wal-Mart at 3:00 AM with my...

    Attn: Waterfowl fanatics!

Quick report on my opening day hunt. This is my third season waterfowling and I have avoided opening morning on the WMAs near me. It is a bit chaotic. In fact, I have avoided mornings altogether because I didn't want to mess up others' hunts with my newbie blunderings. That is also why I have...

Go North, young man (or not so young man)

This is amazing! 12 and 17 off-trail miles in any terrain is pretty significant, but in Alaska tundra and river bottoms it is especially aggressive. I am impressed. I spent a summer studying backcountry lakes, and 17 trail miles was our longest single-day trek, and that was stiff. Hats off to...
