The brachial plexus on a deer extends down from the spine where someone would place a bullet for a "High Shoulder" shot. If you hit it and not the spine, yes it's like hitting the off switch. While it drops the animal quickly there is meat loss and with the type of bullet that fragments in the...
Just guessing by the video I'd say 24-30 mph. I think the audio makes it sound worse than it is. Living in Oklahoma it's rarely calm. We'll have winds with gusts up to 40 mph or more. We had a micro burst come through that blew corrugated sheet metal several blocks down the road in front of my...
I had the same cooler in red when I was a kid. I wish I knew what happened to it. There's no such thing as luck or "juju". If you can use it keep it, if you don't need it bless somebody else with it.
I've thought about it myself but am very hesitant. I like the idea of "Precision Hunting". Notice I didn't say "Long Range Hunting". Precision is marksmanship plus proper compensation for environmental factors like gravity, wind, etc. One thing I've been practicing at the range is reading the...
My unscientific opinion on what kills game is thus:
1. Damage to the central nervous system. Either with damage to the brain, damage to the circulatory system that leads to asphyxiation due to lack of oxygen rich blood reaching the brain, or damage to the respiratory system that leads to...
I remember a video Wayne van Zwoll did about elk cartridges and mentions friends of his using .243 and .25-06 with great success on elk and emphasizing shot placement is what kills game. At my Wichita Mountains elk hunt you were required to use a .270 caliber or larger round to fill your tag...
I have experienced similar terminal performance and meat loss on hogs with the SST in .30-06. I've moved to a different bullet and different shot placement for that application. I go for a spine shot at the neck. They don't go far if anywhere with that shot and minimal meat loss. My minimal...
I don't have to sort now but it's part of my process and I enjoy it. If I did have Hammers I'd probably sort them too. Not that it would matter since I can't shoot well enough to compare the difference! :ROFLMAO:
If you end up going with a muzzle brake also try something like Wilson Combat's Q Comp. It reduces recoil, compensates to keep the rifle flat as you shoot it, reduces flash, and has very little muzzle blast. There are many other brands that work similarly but that's the one I have experience with.
Say a person had only $500 to spend on a set of binoculars. What would you recommend in that price range? Looking at Steiner Predator, Leupold BX-4, Zeiss Terra, Viper HD, etc. Any experience with Steiner? I've been leaning toward them but have no experience with them.
I only own one. For myself I like the ergonomics. To me they're more comfortable to handle and shoot than a traditional bolt gun. Now that there are better chamberings available, it's more viable as a hunting platform. On top of all of that they're good for keeping the king of England out of...
Great testimony brother.
"But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:14
That's some beautiful brass!
I had some brass in my reloading tray that I thought I had resized, I even chambered one in my rifle to be sure, but after filling the cases with powder and going to seat a bullet, it fell right into the neck. I hadn't run them through the collet die. Oops.
