I bet you and I have more things that we would agree upon than not on this topic. No, we should not seek to bring about harm or destruction to the earth. Yes, we should be very cognizant of the current collectivist temperament employed by many using "Climate Change" and being "Green" as a means...
You might check the alignment on your rings. If they're not aligned it could be applying torque to the scope body that's causing a hangup. If that's good than it's likely the scope. But at least you'll know that it won't affect the next scope you install.
I like the idea of the caliber specific books that have different manufacturer's load data in them. In working up my TTSX load for .308 I consulted several different sources and didn't find any two that matched but it gave me a good place to start from. As far as "MAX" load data, Hodgdon I've...
The only time I consider a bullet to have "failed" is when it does not perform as the manufacturer intended. I think bullet "failure" is more rare than common these days but cannot be written off. Some bullets mushroom perfectly, some loose their jacket, some explode into shrapnel, some pass...
I've heard nothing but good things on the Gold Dot. I hope to try them out for myself next season. Speer seems to be glossed over quite a bit for some reason.
No-one made that statement, but there are those who would seek to ban the AR platform all together and I've seen and experienced lots of nose thumbing toward those that do hunt with the AR platform. Not all HBAR Colt's are match grade but all do have a heavy barrel. I'm sure all of your rifles...
You don't need a rifle to kill deer either. So? Most of the deer I've harvested have been with a .30-30. What does that make me?
In 6.5 Creedmoor I've used 125 grain Winchester Deer Season XP Extreme Point that shot a one hole group but it was a little too hot for my rifle. Extraction was...
I have used Duracoat exactly one time. Results were good. I have heard of others preferring Cerakote claiming it's more durable but I've had no issues from normal use. I'm far from what you'd call a "professional".
100 yards is a great place to zero. To adjust for ranges less than 100 and beyond 100 yard you'll "Dial Up" from your 100 yard zero. You dial up because the bullet starts to fall immediately after leaving the barrel and at longer distances the bullet falls below your 100 yard zero. The idea is...
"Hydrostatics" is the study of fluids at rest and the pressure in a fluid or exerted by a fluid on an immersed body. The type of event you are describing demonstrates a pressure surge. When the fluid in the full container experiences an impact from a bullet the velocity of the resting fluid...
Yes. 18 inch pounds is adequate to hold it in place as long as your rings are machined properly and provide enough surface area contact with the scope tube.
I'd go with what the scope manufacturer suggests. If you exceed that and crush the tube it'll be obvious you over torqued it. They may still warranty it but they shouldn't have to.
