When rifle hunting I don't carry a handgun as I'm not proficient enough with it to offset the danger I'd be to my hunting partners under the stress and chaos of an attack. I might if bow hunting in griz country as backup to spray. I say carry what you are most proficient with and accurate with...
Dad lost one in Colorado that I made for him as a Christmas gift. Thinks he lost it while pulling some stuff out of his pack while hiking in 12-14 inches of snow. We retraced his path but no luck. I've looked for it every year since with no luck. He wears his new one on his belt now instead of...

Suppressed hunting is the way to go. Saves your and your hunting partners hearing, allows you to hear bullet impact, and possibly more likely to get a second shot in. Kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Got one form four can, and working on getting two form one cans.
I have tarp camped in third rifle elk season, so normally cold and snowy, but it has actually rained a few times. I always make a pine boughs bed about 10-12" inches thick to get off the ground to avoid moisture transfer and to add a bit insulation from the ground. Has worked great if I picked...
