But if the scope slides in the rings and gets damaged because I don't torque it to the rings' spec, should Vortex have to replace that?

For winter kill in Wyoming. The birds were picking at this dead fawn this morning. Looked like it died over night, it was -8 degrees at 9am when I saw it. Looked like an undersized fawn but I'm no deer biologist.
