I hunt areas with similar topology, and often have problems with swirling wind. It really can ruin an otherwise good location. I'd test out the area during different times of day to see if there are reliable wind patterns. If not, I would use a popup blind in the trees to keep your scent contained.
Wow. All this talk of ingenious shower solutions is really making me rethink my dirt baths. Why bother throwing dirt on yourself out in the woods when you can haul a barrel full of dirt and have it right at camp? Thx for the idea, esracerx. ��
I've had mixed results. Goretex has a guarantee, so you might try invoking it. I purchase my boots at REI, and have returned them up to a year later when they leaked. REI doesn't even ask questions. They can be pricier than elsewhere, though.
