When you guys hunt the hills, are you looking to cover a ton of ground fast or are you looking for big spots to sit and glass? In my mind I feel like we should be covering ground and then if we see deer or good sign, slow down or sit in that area. Does this sound right?
Thanks for the information. It is hard to imagine seeing the numbers of deer guys talk about. I grew up hunting public in WI and know what it is like to see very few deer durning rifle season. I would be very happy with a 120-125" buck!!!
I hope they are still rutting during Thanksgiving week.
I head out to the Black Hills in less than 50 days. I can't wait to get out there and hunt whitetails!! I'm still digging into maps and OnX but so far I have 2 locations narrowed down. Everyone says, we will see deer, but it is hard to believe until you get there. Any last minute tips to...
I have fiber optic sights on the rifle!! I will try some BOR Locks too just to see how they compare. I will also look into the musket cap and Triple 7.
I'm planning on elk hunting in CO next year. I have a .50 TC Hawken and would like to use it. I've shot some NoExcuse bullets and they did well at the range. If you were to set up a Hawken, what powder/bullet out you try?
Hawaii is great. We were there last summer. Buy your own snorkle gear and bring it with. The same places the companies take people too are the same ones you can go to for free. Get a rental car, pack a soft cooler in your bag and go for a few day trips. We loved every second of our trip...
What weapon would you recommend for a mnt lion hunt with hounds? I'm planning on going in a few years and am curious to hear what others use?
30-30 lever
.357 revolver
50 cal muzzleloader
compound
recurve
I guess CO antelope is an add on for my other points in CO. I am willing to keep buying them and waiting a long time while hunting deer/elk/antelope in other states. I really don't have a plan other than to keep adding points.
How does one find a list of private ranches to call for trespass...
I've been buying points for an antelope hunt in CO. My question is simple. How many points are needed for a decent unit with fair land access or are you bette off looking for a trespass option for antelope in CO? I'm curently at 3 points.
It was a 100 yard drag to the field edge. From there my buddy has a scale in his shed that you can park under.
She was going to use her compound but she's struggling with some shoulder issues so the crossbow was the only other option she was willing to use.
