    The access to the stand is from a field. They will have no clue we are walking into the stand for the evening hunt. We will get in the ladder stand and be set up in 5 minutes.

    I'm using cookie dough with different scents around the bait like oil, fruity sprays and anise powder. I also put a glob of frosting in the stump for the first bear as a reward for getting there first. I'm baiting everyday right at first light too.

    I would use the 30-06. If scoped, you might gain a little more time as dark approaches and the bears come in right at dark.

    I hunt in the northern part of the state right on the edge of farm country and the big woods. I know what it is like to sit all weekend in a tree stand and see 1 tail of a deer. I'm looking forward so seeing some deer everyday of the hunt.
