I paid $300 for a Marlin X7 in .223. Great gun for the money shoots well under an inch with some ammo and about an inch with several other factory loads. I wish Marlin still made them I would like to have one in 7mm-08.
I to have had good results with Hornady XTPs in a sabot out of a .50. What kind of accuracy do you get? I was thinking of trying 250 grain Barnes TMZ or TEZ with a Harvester sabot.
I've been given a Knight .54 cal muzzleloader. I was thinking of shooting .451 caliber bullets in a sabot. Anybody try this? What kind of accuracy did you get? I've mostly shot .50 cal and .45 caliber rifles. This will be a first with the .54 for me.
Thanks
130 grain ttsx might be the ticket. 125 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip or Accubond if you want to stick to 125 grain bullets. Let us know how it works out.
NMDGF is open. The physical office is closed but you can call any of the numbers and someone should answer. I called them the other day, got my questions answered. Or call the BLM. Good luck.
Try to find a local who is experienced and knowledgeable with shooting a muzzleloader and they could probably teach you some valuable lessons in a short time...if they are willing. Beware of You-tube videos as there are some really bad ones that if you go by their "expert advise" could lead to...
Be thankful for what you have, and pray for all who are on the frontlines risking their own health to help others. Pray for all who are separated from their loved ones. God bless.
