Maybe it was just me, but I shot an entire box over a couple days with the same accuracy and groups double in size at 200 yards which coincide with my 100 yard results. The 120 Nosler Ballistic tips shoot .75" or better. Just can't find any. Go figure.- Two7D

Heads up... I shot some of this and got groups that were just under 2" at 100 yards out of a Savage 110. The search for better shooting ammunition continues.- Two7D

Gun for son
You're forgiven as I was also wrong. A man bun is a hair style for an adult male, in this case a son bun would probably be more politically correct. So pawhitetail, stick with the .30-06. CVA Cascade has an adjustable stock and a threaded barrel, I don't know if it is chambered in .30-06 though. -

If he want's a .30-06 work with him on getting one, it'll be his gun. It sounds like he has access to a couple of lighter recoiling rifles that he can practice with until he can handle the recoil of the .30-06. I would agree with putting off the purchase and getting more of a long-term gun in... -

anyone here use 223 on hogs or deer?
My daughter killed a pronghorn with .223, Sierra factory load pushing a 64 grain tipped Game King. Range was 150 yards broadside. Bullet exited. Pronghorn went approx. 30 yards after the hit. I was impressed by the damage that little 64 grain bullet did. Gun has a 22" 1:9 twist. I haven't... -

Deer rifles for young hunters

Swift A-frame
Lower BC than Nosler Partitions on average. Higher retained weight due to bonding. Within average hunting ranges BC isn't going to matter. Good luck.- Two7D

Dead Center Bullets
Not that particular bullet but, I've killed a couple deer with the 200 grain version and my brother killed a deer with the 220 grain version. Brother got a passthrough and good performance at 150 yards. My longest shot was 160 yards and closest was maybe 20 yards on mule deer. All one shot...- Two7D
