Just a cursory google fu on the NM outfitters association and there are at least a few who list that area specifically and several others that list statewide. I would find the closest professional outfit to your desired trailhead!
The feral cats on most farms in this region, including the farm I am on need to be purged of the hierarchy of the gene pool, except for the most experienced mousers! I am currently on that purge now as the inbreeding causes illness . One winter I took down every cat on the farm, they were all...
We could get a foot , so they say , tonight! I don't care. Snowblower still fubar from last storm, the poor condition of the road was the cause, not the snow. Been blowing huge junks of highway through the doggone thing! Lovely roads we have around here! Can't wait to see what N,evers does...
My Woolrich bibs are 30 years old and in need of some stitching once again. I bought another pair several years ago from Filson, w/cargo pockets that have not been broke in yet. They are high dollar and when sitting or being on horseback in single digit or sub zero weather they all are life...
I have some semi modern gear, within 20 years or so , but I still like my rip stop cammies for snoopin and poopin in the archery woods here in coulee country as it is not a magnet for burs, wildebeasts, diatoms and all sorts of other clingons of the forest and if I happen to rip it lowcrawling...
Has anyone tried out any of that gear from Origin, from Maine, I think! They had a sick looking camo pattern that is one of my favorites, kind of based off the Nam era tiger fatigues! Some of their footgear looks well made, but I know nothing of them. I am hoping my gear lasts me the rest of my...
I would not know what to buy these days with all the new gear. I had all my cammies, etc from the service when I started working for outfitters, circa '82 and we were in the backcountry with some good horses. I had wool bibs with cargo pockets and a hodgepodge of clothing for layered warmth...
I have been doing small burns on the farm. I prefer a steady wind from the West for my control. I have many firebreaks and start my burn on the extreme downwind edge and it creeps upwind to another firebreak and me on a hose. I have never lost one, yet, but I am slowing down with age!
I get turned off by the huge amounts of money some of these clowns make infecting the backcountry with a myriad of nincompoops, that and the womenfolk all wandering around as fashion statements !
I can relate to the solo or hunting with a buddy thing! I had a few friends I would bow hunt with in a heartbeat and they all had horses and I worked for an outfitter so I had horses, so whether or not I could get an animal out of the nasty stuff never fazed me! That being said, I much...
I do not have a dog in this fight anymore as I now live with the cheeseheads and not by choice. I was 3rd generation Colorado and the eldest son of teachers. lived in Grand County for many years and worked seasonal jobs, concrete, hunting camps, ski areas. I started out early 80's in rentals...
One never really graduates from the novice category when hunting elk, imo! I fear the speed with which information permeates the hunting masses has made hunting more difficult and am glad I got to see those beautiful animals in their bedrooms when I was younger!
