I am left eye dominate, right handed. I shoot a rifle right handed just the way I learned and its not a big issue. I shoot my bow left handed, and have switched back and forth a few different times with that. Honestly not a huge deal either way.
20 pound boots, that are like skies. New breaks hunters thinking it cant be as bad as people say, and roads that are a complete mess. Along with all the opening weekend hunters.
I wish there was a camera where we could just watch.
Back straps, square them up and pound them to about a 1/8". I have three different plates out. one flower (with a season all mix), one with mixed eggs, and one crushed chips (most any will do). Take the steaks through them in that order and fry them up. this also makes great steak fingers...
I sent you a message, but there is some great advice here. With the dog, make sure they get out of the blind and let them run around now and then. New dogs are going to miss some birds/not understand that's ok, they get better as you do with more experience. I always brought a extra baggy...
Lots of people in that unit any more. I grew up learning how to archery hunt there, mountains are big there.
- Would a guy expect decent results doing out and back hunts in this HD, or are backcountry camps more effective and/or necessary? Decent results as in hearing elk and seeing them...
Like TeeJ said calling is usually not the way to go unless you can break that 100 yard mark on them... they get called at alot so if you are going to call make sure you sound good.
Honestly I would camp high and drive where I want to hunt in the mornings, even if it take 30 min-a hour. The reason for that is if it does get wet out there the camper will stay. I have had more than one friend have to leave a camper there a extra week while things dried up again.
Welcome, if you ever make it over to the east side of the mountains i am around the Shelby/Conrad area. You can also message me if you have any questions about the breaks.
The Breaks one of the most amazing places to hunt in the state. One thing I can offer up is there will be people, plenty of people, but don't over look a place just because you saw someone hunting the opposite ridge or coming out of a place you wanted to go into. Find the elk, bed them down if...
I am writing a book for my kids to read about all of my hunting adventures, and had asked myself the same question many different times. That question evolves over time and over the many hours experienced in the woods. For me, this is the best description at this time in my hunting career...
Alaska (caribou)
Montana (Everything)
I have been thinking about getting out of my comfort zone and applying to some surrounding states Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota.
It is amazing that so many people on here have hunted so many places.
We are the same way when it comes to shots, "you should really shoot that one", "no you should, you let me shoot the last one." I will hear that at least a couple times this season.
When I was younger we would take a trip every year for at least a week for rifle hunting deer, during the...
^^^ that is some of the best advice I have read about eastern Montana^^^^ I don"t have much experience in 704 but 410 I can tell you that it is hunted hard by the archery hunters early and then again by elk hunters during rifle. What i can say is that many of the elk hunters wont pass up a...
