    Bear baiting question

Way back in my younger days............I built a fire under a Ponderosa, cooked bacon and trout for lunch when I baited. Then added that grease to deep fryer grease from a Chinese cafe, some honey, and other good smelling stuff with water in a big coffee can and boil. The steam will transfer all...

    Moose and game bags

The question of what type of bags to use depends on the hunt. A mediocre bag may suffice if you drive to your camp and will load meat in your truck. A long float trip of handling bagged meat daily or dragging them in and out of a super cub having good bags is a must. The same with packing on...

    I need a turkey gun

All you need is a tight choked single shot 12 gauge! My old Iver Johnson has what some may call a turkey choke as it is a very tight full and is my go to gun for Tom's. No fancy turkey loads needed, just good old Super X 6's. Be a hunter and get close.

    "Texas Heart Shot"???

My granddad was never in Texas and lived 1500 miles away, yet I remember him calling ass shots a Texas heart shot and that was in the mid 50's. I think it was more about Texas being a big state.....meaning you had a big target but you............if you were an archer you Robin Hooded the only...

Friday Tunes Songs About Other Singers

Thank you fellas for being inquisitive, but I cannot divulge the action on here. Involved were two ladies, me, a chair, and another blindfolded female in some type of initiation. My memory is a little fuzzy as it was then.

Can a dog be trained to smell?

Dogs have better noses than humans so they have the ability to use them for almost any scent. Training is best just after weening and Dad was known for his excellent tracking Beagles. Older dogs may take a little more time. Border Collies are known for their brains and are very quick learners...

    300 prc for baited bear

Why waste meat with more gun when it is where you put the projectile? When hunting bear over bait shots are usually close and all that is needed is a 170 grain Core-Lokt out of a 30-30 put through both lungs.

    Which fletching jig?

I don't know the brand but I bought them from Anderson Archery back in the 1960's. A single and a six fletcher. Both helical and straight clamps, inserts for 3 @ 120, 4 @ 90, 4 @ 75x105, and 6 @ 60. They have fletched several hundred arrows over the years with no problems. I don't think the...

    They are Among Us!

Yep, they do. It reminds me of a tourist getting off a cruise ship in Alaska and asking "what is the elevation here?"

Any Previous Tok Air Service Hunters? Booked for 2024 and have some ?'s

A few years back I was hunting moose and caribou not far from where Tok Air dropped off hunters. It was on a ridge top with a long walk down to water and of course your game animals needed to be packed up to the airstrip which meant extra work. I talked to one of the hunters and he was not happy...
