That’s what I thought..damn. I tried burning my 9 deer permit points and applied as a party with him for a deer permit. Based on last year being 97.5% successful on BG Combo and 100% on the deer permit we applied for I thought for sure we’d be successful. Now I’m SOL too for deer.
Yes he did both deer and elk…hopefully that’s the case and it changes? I thought you had to first be successful in the Tag draw to be eligible for the permit draw though. Waiting to tell him anything until it’s all finalized!
I’m very excited to try the 124s in my RPM. At some point when I have more spare time I plan on getting into reloading for it but in the meantime I’m excited to shoot Hammer’s this season. Have heard excellent things.
I have a STS 65HD with the 25-50 eyepiece and love it. I too can’t compare to the non hd version though. Not sure how much difference the cost is between the two. But if you can afford it but once cry once.
Really intrigued by the 7PRC…it’s unfortunate that it seems like factory ammo will be a long time before you can find on the shelves. Scheels has a Ruger American in the caliber for $650 but for someone who doesn’t reload it may be awhile before you can shoot it.
I have a 300wsm that I’m considering a barrel change on. My question is would it be possible to put a Proof carbon fiber barrel on the existing stock / action? Or would I need additional parts? I’m completely green when it comes to gunsmithing, hence the question, and would have a smith do it...
Seeing this thread just made me cough up $120 to Scheels. Had two boxes left and my 300wsm shoots these Norma’s extremely well. 100 rounds should last me quite a while as I don’t shoot the gun much outside of checking zero and hunting season.
I believe there is a bill forthcoming that would do just that. It’s from Molnar so probably also includes crossbow language in it (jk…hopefully)…but if it does make it to committee and there’s no red herring in it we will all have to voice our support.
Probably the same questions as the elk one, just Mule deer inserted instead. Hunting pressure, game numbers, etc. It did ask questions RE shorter season, managing trophy potential, eliminating hunt during rut.
Leave it to MT FWP to have conflicting bonus point info for different species. The yellow highlights is from deer/elk/antelope regs and the other is from MSG regs. From how I read it, I think we’re both right. Can’t do it for elk or deer but if you put in for a ewe tag and don’t elect bonus...
No you can’t. If you put in for a permit draw and elect not to use bonus points you cannot buy a point later in the year. You can only buy a point if you didn’t put in for the draw.
