Yup, officially ordered it today. Should be here in 30-60 days according to the dealer. Have a new VX3i sitting in my safe ready to top it off when it gets here. .257 wby definitely intrigued me, scheels here has a vanguard one that tempts me every time I see it. Ultimately I just wanted to be...
The round I’ve got are the 127 Barnes, and that’s all I would have interest in shooting. I’ve had some poor experiences with lead bass bullets in hunting situations. I’d have to think that the .264 meat damage is based off target selection and not necessarily the caliber in general? A well...
Call me crazy but I’ve got 60 rounds so far. Will likely make it 80 by tomorrow. That’s one thing that draws me to Weatherby is if they come out with a round it seems they’ll put ammo for it. Whether or not it’s on the shelf is another story
Wondering if anyone has one and their opinions on it. Looking at picking one up in a Weathermark LT as it seems to be a do-it-all from antelope to elk in a lightweight package. Wish I had the means to splurge for the backcountry TI but I actually like the looks of the classic weatherby’s and I...
Just curious, where’d you see that at? Thought the point of them going online only to apply allowed them to speed up the draw. If the 19th is the case, that’d make it be later than it takes them historically.
I have a Model 70 Super Grade in a 300WSM. Got it in 2010. Really like the looks and feel of it, but have had fits getting it to shoot well. Have tried different scopes etc, and now have it into a gunsmith to dissect it piece by piece. Really want it to be a shooter for me.
You’ll probably be glad you tried it! 120 and a 5 min rest is my go to for game. When I do it using my sous vide I’ll do it at 118 for an hour then sear for a couple minutes each side and a couple minute rest before thinly slicing. That’s a favorite in our house.
Seems like the spring turkey and paddlefish results have both come a week after the app deadline this year...hoping that trend continues but not going to hold my breath
You’re absolutely correct that people don’t have the patience. I get it if people are hunting for meat, shoot whatever floats your boat, but also can’t complain that there’s no big bucks anywhere. I agree, we could do better to improve age/size class but unfortunately I never see that happening...
I picked up a Vanguard Sporter Deluxe (I think) from Wal Mart a few years ago in a 270 win for $350 and the thing is a tack driver. It has an old Burris 3x9 on it. I just wish it was a couple pounds lighter, but it’s one I’ll never let go of. They also had a 308 win for sale at the time and I’m...
