It is still a 2-can limit (6 in possession) up in interior Alaska, but since the season opens Sept 1 and freeze up is
typically early to mid October, we rarely see them as colored up as those two drakes in Colorado.
After spending the past 30 years in interior Alaska, I've enjoyed the diversity of spring waterfowl in
Montana I did not see in Alaska (Cinnamon Teal, Wood Duck, Herons, even Coots and Ruddy Duck)
I hike a local National Wildlife Refuge, starting before dawn.
On the way back I pick up litter, which helps stretch this 67 year old body, and maintains a trash free refuge.
This Drake Canvasback saw my white trash bag and was curious.
Before sunrise, so not enough light for a good photos.
I agree.
With home ownership, you can set up a wood shop, grow a garden, have animals, etc.
I bought my Alaska house for $110k in 1995, it is worth about $400k today.
But a new roof, new septic system, new boiler, etc cost about $50k.
Investing $110k at 4.5% over 30 years would yield about...
I used to work summers out of Allagash. Reminded me of interior Alaska. Canoed a different river every weekend. Also lived in Durham NH and always went to Kittery for lobster dinners. Great memories.
