Thinking about buying or building an ultra light rifle. Something in the 6.5lb or less range. When looking at factory options I know of the following, am I leaving any out, anyone have any experience with any of these?
Savage Ultralight 5.8lb or 6lb depending on chambering.
Savage lightweight...
Another gun I no longer had and should have kept, was a pre 64. will trade or sell
All I have left for this one is this box of 14 empties and 5 unfired rounds
I know not many shoot this anymore and I sold my rifle and this is what I have left from it. Looking to sell or trade PM if you have any offers.
The Rem box there are 10 unfired rounds left and 10 empties, The 500gr Winchesters there are 39 unfired rounds, the 510 Winchesters there are 37...
I have used the 200 grain version, only shot one deer at about 50 yards, went through both shoulders stopping just under hide, was probably the diameter of a quarter.
Minnesotahunter has a good point, it takes some time to adjust but is doable for sure. A new Leupold product to check out is their brand new delta point red dot, its the lowest mounted sight currently available. I have a springfield OSP 10mm so I need a higher red dot for the sights...
I have been looking for one for my ram as well, I just have a hard time spending $1K+ on one. I will be going with a DIY one from movebumpers. I need more ground clearance for my approach angle.
Have a like new Vortex Viper HST 6-24x50 with VMR1 Reticle. Has been mounted and less then 35 rounds through rifle. Sold rifle so no need for scope. $450 tyd. Will ship in manufacturer box. Comes with everything that it came with new. Phone is being a pain so will post pictures when I can. My...
I have taken several whitetail inches from the barrel. I used to hunt a swamp that had a real tight pinch point. It was down to one trail at that point. We cut a area out enough to sit on a bucket and sit beside the trail, it was thick enough you could hear them coming through from 10 yards away.
I have never hunted in there, I have seen deer tracks. The outfit I rent my canoe from deer hunts in the area. He says numbers are down, due to weather and wolves, but they rarely hunt in the boundary waters area, they hunt outside in logging area and powerline strips. That area is so thick you...
I have used Eberlestock J34 for the last 6-7 seasons. I like that its expandable, so I can use as a day pack and a backpacking pack. It has some decent organization, I can fit enough gear in it for a full 5 day back pack hunt. I also have an additional bag that can be attached if need to carry...
A lot of great idea's listed. I will be sure to share pics during and after build is complete.
I am hoping to keep GVWR around 7-7500K or lighter.
So far my plan is for the unit to be 96" wide and 10' tall. Will have about 23-5/8" ground clearance as well.
I guess you could say we are the "experts" I will say this will probably be the strongest built trailer out there.
The problem with the industry is none of the big guys build a unit marketed towards hunters. Sure there are some who are making off road style trailers and plenty of toy haulers...
