Wyoming Legislators Propose Lowering Hunting Age

Agreed! Both my son's have likely killed more deer by their 11th birthday than the average Utahn hunter does by the time they can legally buy booze! No age limit in IN and any new hunter, regardless of age, can hunt for 3 years on an apprentice license before having to take hunter's ed. Both...

    Case Against R3

Provincialism is alive and well... The R3 I'm most concerned about are the two boys that I am raising... My best friend I got into hunting. He's from a non-hunting family. He's become one of the most successful deer hunters in our town. Both his two boys, his brother, and nephew are all...

    Wall Tent necessities and accessories

I'd hold out on the 2 person cot, unless snuggling is that important. 2 singles allow for more options in where to put stuff. I have a heavy duty cot from Davis and the EZ cot from Beyers. Any future ones will be Beyers. Just too easy to set up, plenty sturdy and comfortable. In the past...

    7mm-08 / H4895 / Reduced Loads

I think I'd lead towards the 120gr Ballistic Tip. It's got a great track record. I think the route you are proposing would be a good one!! That said, for the species you have listed, I'd not be afraid to have either kid use a 223 or 22-250 if you have one in the house already. My...

Finn from the Cascades, Season 4

Thank you for taking the time to post that. Should my boys 5 different baseball teams :)oops:) allow some time, I plan on working with Hank on tracking and soon. The multiple visuals give me a much better understanding of how to set up the training. Not something I've always been good at...

Sage Grouse decline and the ESA

And too much sagebrush in some places. ;). I'd be surprised to see a range wide listing and don't think it's warranted at that level, but could see some populations/areas being listed. PS- TRCP needs longer articles and fewer links in them...

6.5 Grendelstein - COVID and Supply Shortage Build

Growing up I did most of my hunting on Sugar Ridge between Winslow and Stendal. Still a neat area. Almost makes one glad they had the lack of mine reclaim laws they had at the time.

Bobcat season in ohio a possibility?

They've been trying for a few years here in Indiana. I'd not be surprised to see a limited/quota type season on them in the next couple. Heck, they allow river otters on a quota here. Having a neighboring state start a new season might be a good catalyst for getting one in Ohio

6.5 Grendelstein - COVID and Supply Shortage Build

I used to live in Noblesville, but a couple of years ago moved back home to Gibson County, just north of Evansville. Have land and do most of my hunting in Crawford County near Patoka Lake.

6.5 Grendelstein - COVID and Supply Shortage Build

Very nicely done!! I've got a very similar project in the works. Gathering parts like a fall squirrel gathers nuts.

    Food Plot for Mule Deer?

Considered a fall planting? Might let the plants get their legs under them over winter and spring before the stress of summer. https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_PLANTMATERIALS/publications/idpmcpg7792.pdf

    Food Plot for Mule Deer?

As with any planting you need to lay out your objectives first. Do you want a year round food source? Do you want something highly attractive during hunting season? Do you want something in the early spring to help out after winter? Answers to those will allow for a better suggestions. The...

    Checkerboard Pro-Active Solutions?

Have you ever owned land that holds recreational value? For my case in Indiana, I'd be okay with the land is considered open if not properly posted, inhabited, or in production. I would have a very hard time with any rule that allows the public to cross my land at will. I own land between a...

Security for new home to protect hunting gear investment

Insurance and door locks keep my family and stuff secure enough. I haven't ever lived anywhere that I feared that my stuff would walk off. Only time I've had stuff taken from the house was the day I moved out of Utah. Vehicles are a different story, but all involved the doors being unlocked...
