Right Handed but Left Eye Dominant

I strongly encourage one in your position to give a LH rifle a strong look. Right handed rifles are designed to vent gas/debris away from a right handed shooter. Shooting a RH rifle could be venting that gas/debris right into your eye/face. Just something to think about. If shooting a LH...

    2021 Spring Turkey hunting

Wednesday and Thursdays were all but busts for me. Only heard a few gobbles and most of them off in the distance. Did stumble upon a few birds in the woods, but didn't get it done. Friday I had was able to get within 100yds of one gobbling like they should from the roost. Kept him interested...

    Kentucky Gobbler

Well done! Shot my first this year with HW #7s in 20ga. Worked slick. Got lucky and scored 5 boxes of 2.75" HW#7s last year for the Ithaca my sons use. Looks like I'll be having to go to TSS as well since the HW is non-obtanium. At the rate I shoot turkeys, the 3 boxes of 3" shells I have...

The game is getting crazy for big game hunting.

For the two items/issues I bolded, I agree that each of those would be good things. However, I feel those will become more the norm and expansion of each of those programs in states with point scheme's will happen. Each are a good 'business' decision for the F&G departments. Keeps more...

Hunting Public land when you have access to private land?

I'll start tomorrow hunting private. Will move to public if I hear birds there. Will find no moral or ethical dilemma in that decision. PS- Indiana's turkey season dates are stupid and way too late...

When will wood prices go back down?

Around here, I think a guy could sell all he was willing to make.

    Sheep: now or later

If you and your wife are fine with spending the amount of money it takes to go on a sheep hunt, do it now. It's not going to get cheaper nor will there be more sheep opportunity in the future. If I was putting that much money down on a hunt/trip, I probably take out trip insurance.

    Use Enough Gun

IME "heavy damaging round" comes with more recoil resulting in more misplaced shots...

7mm-08 Load with 131gr Hammer Hunter

That's a much taller order than folks that only shoot 3rd groups realize.

    Use Enough Gun

If most would be truly honest it's probably a lot shorter distance and a much less recoil than we are currently using...

    Fanny pack for hunting

This one would fit my needs very well and I've all but pulled the trigger on it multiple times. Just worried about it being louder than I'd like. And to get it outfitted as shown would not be cheap... https://hillpeoplegear.com/Products/CategoryID/15/ProductID/68 Another I've considered is...

Stirring the pot on shot placement

If I've got enough bullet/gun to do what I want it to do, I don't have a problem with it. Situational dependent of course on unwounded game. On wounded I won't hesitate on that shot. I have no problem shooting a critter through the shoulders either. I generally hunt with a bullet that I feel...

A Financial break for Hunter Recruitment?

A good hunting partner and I have discussed failure in relation to hunting drive a bunch. Each of us have two sons that I have killed more deer by their 12 birthday than we had done by the time we graduated high school. While they go, they do not seem to have the desire that we did. Granted...

The game is getting crazy for big game hunting.

Yep, this is the new normal. Higher prices, fewer tags, convoluted point schemes in most states for NRs. Makes me consider just taking Hank (the dog) on upland bird trips and leave the craziness behind. And I'm nearly 2 decades into the "game".

A Financial break for Hunter Recruitment?

I took one, it was called FAFSA. Then again, my amount of sympathy/pity/understanding for folks racking up huge amounts of student debt is very low...

A Financial break for Hunter Recruitment?

There are more opportunities than one would imagine within 2hrs of where I live for hunting on public land than I could hunt in a year or possibly multiple years. One wouldn't have to work very hard or spend very much money to be able to hunt small game on public land in 3 states within 2hrs of...

    Montana D & E this week??

I don't see that having a significant change in drawing odds, especially in states with points systems.

    Weird Indiana deer rifle laws

IIRC, Ohio is a straight wall cartridge state. It so, the 350 Legend would not be legal. 444 Marlin, 45-70, etc would be.

    Sherman Wildcat (338 Sherman Short)

I've not used the 250gr Scenar, but the 139/136gr out of a 260 Rem are sure killers!
