I disagree with a group, any group, getting tags to raffle/auction. Regardless of the organization, the species they represent or how "good" of work they do. That money would be better going straight to the state's G&F department IMO and 100% of it.

For turkeys, I'm in the heavier than lead group. Federal HW or TSS and small shot sizes (7 or smaller).
#6 lead, preferably copper plated, would cover nearly all other bases (squirrels, rabbits, put and take pheasants) I use a 20ga for in IN. The last two years...
I recommend this route, but it should lead to 9.3X62. Lapua makes brass and the chambering has more than a bit of African flavored panache.
If you really want to stay with 30-06; I'd opt for a rebarrel from someone who'll match the contour of the existing barrel.
