For carrying while hunting I'd strongly look at the FHF bino harness with Razco holster attached. Or possibly a Hill People Gear chest pack with bino carrier. Both are on my short list.
That said, I've I'm rifle hunting I don't find much of a need for a sidearm.
An AWD/4X4 van (or minivan) with dual sliding doors would be a very good bird hunting rig IMO!
In the next couple years I'm gonna need a new truck. Kinda trying to talk the wife into a Soholt-ish, overlander type full size van. Thinking it would cover much the same needs as a pickup with a...
A very tall target and a long distance range would be another way to solve the problem. Zero at 100yds and shoot it at distance and measure the difference. Back calculate the velocity using a ballistic app/solver.
My buddy shot a brown bear on Kodiak with a 180gr Nosler Partition out of a 300 WSM. I'd probably lean towards a Partition or bonded bullet like the Accubond myself.
FWIW, a former poster on here shot his with a 260 Rem and a 130gr Swift Sirocco...
Knowing my wife, if I was to even think about wood fired heat, it'd have to be an outside boiler system. BIL and my mom had one and they were very happy with it. Having 100ac of hardwoods at my disposal really makes it attractive to me, but I've not sold her on the idea. But, we do have a...
I'm starting to think I could like an electric car/truck. It would cover my needs 90+% of the time. If going on a long trip, I'd just rent and still probably be money ahead. Heck, I've rented a vehichle for the last two out of state trips I took anyway. Both times I ended up in a full size...
Perspective adds a lot IMO/E. "Crowded" public lands in many western states are relatively empty compared to what I've experienced in IN. There is also a huge difference in visibility. I can spot hunters from miles away on many western hunts, but rarely can see more than a 100yds where I hunt...
There's a short documentary on Netflix about a family who was big in the sports card business. Part of it covers the crash in prices for the cards after the '90s. Pretty interesting.
Chaining can create very effective, high quality GSG habitat. Lots has to do with the design (mosaic vs large blocks) and implementation (weight/size of chain). These work great as well and while it takes more diesel, a mosaic design is easier.
One other thing to consider is we had way more...
Something like this for a walking staff when you are shooting. A DIY option would not be hard.

Yep, those were the fish I helped gather out of the ponds to harvest the eggs. I had the name/strain in correct. Some were so big that we'd only get a couple in a 5gal bucket.
Spent more than a bit of time in the Pilots. Be sure to have an extra spare tire handy. The rocks and greasewood can be hard on tires.
Guy on the East side of the mountains had a couple of ponds he raised Bonneville Cutthroats in for the NV DWR. He finally had to fence them to keep the elk...
Guessing it's about how much it weighs.
Nice looking rifle! I'm growing fond of Tikkas. Would like to build each of my boys one off a Tikka action for their HS graduation presents.
