While I understand the point you are making, I don't agree with it especially when one ties it to resource allocation and perpetuation of the sport in regards to owning/accessing private land.
While maybe not quite as stiff as the Davis, it did not sag to any amount that it is uncomfortable. During our house remodel, but wife slept on it nightly for 4 months and didn't complain...about the cot that is. ;)
I still disagree. I do not find it unethical to exercise my ability to hunt public land, regardless if I own land or not. Otherwise, it's not really "public". In you're scenario it's only public for those that don't have other options. That doesn't square with me. Nor do I see owning land...
I disagree with the gist of much of this post. Public land is open for all to use, regardless of land ownership. I'll continue to hunt public ground for the same species I could on my own place.
I don't think there is a lack of opportunity nor do I see cost as being too much of a hurdle at the level you posed. And to relate to the OP, I definitely don't see "free" JUCO/trade school lowering crime enough to matter or be worth the cost.
That said, I do not think education is really...
If cost isn't an issue, I'd be looking for NM landowner tags and/or calling all the UT CWMUs with pronghorn tags. There are also opportunities in Texas.
There's lots of stuff folks decide they "can't afford". The JUCO/Community colleges/trades around here have a very low price hurdle and that is been my experience elsewhere. YMMV, but I still don't see "free" juco/trade school increasing gradution numbers nor lessening crime numbers.
Based on looks, I'd go Super Grade. The weight difference is not something I'd fret for the uses I'd have for a rifle like that.
'Twould have been nice if they'd put 8" twist barrels on them...
"Free" would be nice, but somone's gotta pay for it. Be nice if it was not me...
I also think the loss of the traditional family unit, especially 2 parents, have impacts that are greatly underplayed by most folks. I'd not be surprised if it's not one of the highest correlation predictors for...
Same in Indiana, except we don't open until 4/21. WAY too late IMO. Best year I've had was during a cold, wet spring delaying stuff. Usually everythings greened up and most of the gobbling is over. Last year we spotted toms breeding hens 3 weeks before the opener... :(
Can't think of anything that I'll ever hunt that I wouldn't hunt with a 300 SAUM and 165gr Partition. JY Jones used that bullet out of a 30-06 for most of the North American Slam. He switched to a 200gr Partiton for a few species, but not many.
Old school SWAG I re-discovered. When I was a kid I wanted one of these jackets more than about any article of clothing. These are jackets given to the local American Legion baseball team. Back then it was quite the honor, at least here, to get invited to play on the Legion team. Sadly the...
Both of mine started with a single shot 357 Mag rifle. Had I not been dealing with the goofy centerfire rules in Indiana I’d have likely start with something else. Huge fan of red dot scopes for kids. No eye relief issues and super intuitive.
