US Forest Service reduced funding for 2025 implications
I wouldn't be upset if USDA didn't re-direct some of the Inflation Reduction Act funds to the USFS... IMO, that'd be a better use than retroactively increasing minimum payments for folks already under contract...- 1_pointer

Deer Hunting in MI
All of the how to's have been well covered. If I can keep my head, hands, feet warm I can stay longer. For hands, I know longer wear big, bulky, warm gloves. I much prefer a muff with light gloves and a handwarmer if needed. If at all possible, I'd try to sit all day on the opener/opening... -

Just more Utah garbage
Not a whole lot of maybe about it, IMO. The DWR manages the tag numbers in the hunting units; CWMU (emphasis on the U) included. Manipulation of tag numbers by sex could have been done to meet objectives. That said, I am not ignorant to the fact that the wildlife bio at DL&L could likely...- 1_pointer

Definitely could have changed, but when I was working with DL&L, folks that drew the CMWU tags did not have to pay any fees other than the state tag fees, bulls or cows. Back then, they gave all of the antlerless tags to the drawings as that allowed them to keep more of the antlered tags. But...- 1_pointer

Youth Season Success!!
We've not caught a bullet in about a 1/2 doz deer and a pronghorn. All of exited and they appear to expand regardless of hitting bone or thick muscle. This deer made it the furthest after the shot, about 70yds. Didn't look for blood at the shot site, but found it easily enough where he jumped... -

What to cook first?
I love smoked bologna. I take the rind off, cross hatch it with a knife, rub it very liberally with yellow mustard and then coat it with you're favorite BBQ rub. Smoke until you want to eat it. Cut into cubes and provide BBQ sauce, ranch, and horseradish sauce for dipping.- 1_pointer
