    Missed Opportunities: Hunters and Environmentalists

The idea that environmentalism is good for hunting is laughable. Most of the game we hunt thrives on early growth conditions that are generated by human impacts like logging. Since most environmentalists are also preservationists there is no reconciling with them. On one side you have the...

    National Petroleum Reserve

The area in question isn't pristine. Long history of activity.

    National Petroleum Reserve

They have to come from somewhere. Of course given people are selfish many think it's better to extract them from the third world with little to no environmental regulation. The parcel in question was set aside specifically for oil extraction. How about we do it safely and responsibly in this...

    Call me crazy but..8mm Mauser

I didn't realise it, but Norma has discontinued a bunch of their 8mm mauser ammo. And what's left isn't loaded like then old stuff. Regardless the 8mm will kill any elk or deer stone dead all day long.

    Call me crazy but..8mm Mauser

With Norma ammo loaded to CIP pressures the 8mmx57 is basically a twin of the 30-06. It will certainly kill any elk that walks out to 400 yards easy.

Wolves and lions will save the trees....

Conifer encroachment. Back when I was in college I viewed pictures of various areas of the west taken back at the turn of the century And modern pictures of the same area. It was pretty telling.

Wolves and lions will save the trees....

A 106 acre stand of aspens isn't chit. In Upper Michigan it's not uncommon for aspen stands to go on for miles.

New Predator in Yellowstone Reshapes Park's Entire Ecosystem

I would think wolves hammering the moose would impact stream side trees more than elk. Elk are primarily grazers and moose browsers. Yellowstone is so out of wack from a biological standpoint its ridiculous. For starters buffalo have over grazed large portions of the park and severely so.

    Unreconcilable?

That may be true. Has nothing to do with the fact coal was on the receiving end of a concerted plan to drive it under Ben I am all for ending all subsidies and letting the chips fall where they may. You would not like it if that ever happened.

    Unreconcilable?

Yea, no. The market was distorted by a concerted effort to chose winners and losers. And next gen nukes don't currently exist. Plus leftists tree huggers hate nukes as much as coal plants.

The largest producers are having a pretty damn good year this year and the largest Producer will be around for decades.

    Unreconcilable?

And where are we now with natural gas prices soaring? Even back then when gas was going for pennies the industry had a good understanding of its shortfalls. They also understood that long term prices would not stay low. I'm not guessing. I was there and in on those meetings. And let me repeat...

    Unreconcilable?

Your dancing around what caused those economic conditions. It was a concerted plan to make it shake out that way. And Wyoming has planets of coal mines still in operation.

    Unreconcilable?

SO2 hasn't been an issue with coal plants for a very long time. Same story for heavy metals. The plant I worked at had mercury capture back in the early Bush years.Coal ash is also not an issue. When I worked in power gen the company I worked at made money selling all their combustion by...

    Unreconcilable?

The economics of natural gas aren't so rosey right now. While it's a common leftists mantra tht natural gas beat out coal based on economics that simply isn't accurate. Only after a crazy amount of regulations where placed on the coal industry was gas competitive. Even then only during the glut...

    Unreconcilable?

Those jobs are well under 20 an hour. Refineries you have to try to make less than 100k a year and the one I work at hasn't had lay offs in decades. And your obsolescence argument is comparing apples to orange. Whale oil wasn't forced to go by the wayside due rabid enviros. Same story with...
