    Phone, GPS, inReach, Onx... Help!

My SPOT Gen3 went up to $199/year for service. Complete ripoff, so I sold it for about $20. Went with the Garmin Inreach Explorer+ and it's great. But very spendy!

    ...

What kind of boat are you talking about? I don't think I would want to be too far off shore with a 9hp but it's doable. We are going May 15 for about 9 days. Hoping to see some kings but will probably go for the trout and steelhead if we get our bears with a few days left. What dates did...

    500 Yrds?

I can think of very few places in AZ when a 500+ yards shot would be necessary. Are you in unit 22 and planning on shooting off the Mogollon rim? If so then also better work on extreme angle shooting in addition to long range. Most places you can get under 300. I think in the 10+ elk I've...

AZSFW rebranded and back for more tags!

Well, that confirms he is a Yes vote for this. He is specifically mentioned at the 1 minute 30 second mark or so of the meeting podcast so I am sure he is aware of the plans. Technically they haven't made the request yet, not until the May meeting in Kingman according to what I heard. Only...

AZSFW rebranded and back for more tags!

Go to the podcast and fast forward to 1:02:38. I am not sure who was speaking but they love Don Peay! This thing stinks.

AZSFW rebranded and back for more tags!

Here is the link to the podcast regarding this new attempt to remove and sell tags from the draw. I am not promoting or advertising this person's podcast. This is the first time I have ever listened to one, and probably the last. If BigFin wants the link removed that's fine with me. Link to...

AZSFW rebranded and back for more tags!

Today we learn that AZSFW has changed their name to ConserveandProtectAZ.org. Same people, same plan. Take hundreds of tags out of the draw, sell them to the highest bidder, allegedly to fight the likes of HSUS. There is a large and expanding thread on coueswhitetail.com with links to...

AZ bill to change public land ownership HB2210

Almost all transfers/sales of public land to private entities are bad. However I think AZ has done pretty good in keeping 9.2 million of the 10.9 million acres granted it 100 years ago. Not sure they've sold all the state lands they have...yet.

    "DIY" bear hunt costs

That's generally what we are looking at for next spring. Planning on hunting 9 days with a day of travel on either end. One hangup we have is whether to get a hotel in Ketchikan for a night(as I think our flight in will arrive about 30 minutes after the ferry has left), or get a flight to the...

    "DIY" bear hunt costs

Does anyone have a breakdown on the estimated cost for each item? Been researching and trying to make an accurate spreadsheet. Right now it ranges from about $2500 to $3200 with various options. Just wondering if I am missing something critical or unforeseen.

Rinella gave a heck of a talk on hunters ethics in Wisconsin tonight

Rinella seems like a good guy. I see he has a Kaibab bison tag down here in mid July.

    Alaska Apps: Party Application

Does a party application in Alaska mean you get 1 tag and hunt as a party(2 people using 1 tag)? Or each person in the party gets an individual tag(like a group application here in AZ)? Sorry, didn't mean to hijack thread...

    Any Sausage or Kielbasa Recipes?

Jalapeno cheddar summer sausage This is our favorite that we have been using for years. We like it a little hotter down here in 'Zona so we usually double the jalapeno. Jalapeno cheddar summer sausage 5 lb Ground Venison 1 lb Ground Beef 2 cup Water 3 Tbsp Morton tender Quick 1 tsp Non...

    2017 Western States Conservation Scorecard

This is funny... Arizona’s access is even more restrictive. The Arizona Navigable Stream Adjudication Commission (ANSAC), has the power to decide which of Arizona’s waterways are navigable, allowing for more public access. To date, only the Colorado River has received such distinction. Outside...

    New Mexico HM 94

I agree LWC55. They aren't going to harm resident hunters, resident guides, or resident landowners. That leaves the average DIY non-resident to foot the bill in NM again. More than likely about 90% of those unused tags are cow elk tags which non-residents are already restricted from. If they...

    New Mexico Question

Have to front the entire tag and application fee for each species. You get the tag fee back when you don't draw and they keep the $13 application fee per species. Also have to buy a $65 yearly license, which is also refundable when you don't draw anything. Get's really expensive when you are...

Great photo with Baboquivari peak in the background. Love that area. Just spent a week a little north of there and it sure was hard to come home, supposed to snow tomorrow. Good luck!
