I didn't think it was green, looked regular brown to me. Decent little hike in or some of the scary locals will let you ride their jeeps for a fee. Always windy there, the trees actually grow sideways! People fish for marlin and tuna off south point (southernmost point in the US).
Definitely...
Best decision you ever made was to buy the lifetime! I had a buddy that I grew up with, AZ resident his entire life, and moved at age 40 but didn't have the money at the time to buy the lifetime license. Regrets it every year and hasn't hunted AZ since. Not much of a buddy anymore...
Its strange how a hunt can be so weather dependent for an animal so weather resistant. Every time it snowed on the early hunt things would come to a complete halt for 3-5 days. Tough hunt for sure but sounds like you put in a monumental effort.
Just in case anyone else is looking to hunt...
Congrats on the bison tag! Which hunt did you draw? I used 34 points a few years ago on the long early hunt and got one DIY on day 23. Tough hunt but rewarding when it all comes together.
I got two $25 charges. Only put in for Goulds turkey so maybe got lucky.
First choice - pink box of death
Second choice - pink box of death
Third choice - available!
Sweet! Got in within seconds and feel lucky to be hunting very close to home (AZ), even if it is a 1 point hunt.
My opinion on AZ sheep. Unless you already have a sheep tag somewhere else, always apply for AZ sheep and earn the bonus point the hard way. Only get X amount of years to apply in a lifetime and buying points for 12 of those would be a wasted opportunity. Might draw with 2 points!
Good luck...
At this point I'll keep buying points in the hopes they change the system again to reward high point holders. Only time will tell if it's worth it, but I do like the idea of keeping some separation from the current 3+0 crop.
They needed to shut down 33 about 10 years ago. Hopefully it rebounds in a couple years(doubtful with all the lions).
NR only make up 10% of tag sales for the OTC deer hunts, I don't feel they are the problem. I think the vastly improved technology is more of a problem than NR hunters...
Both 250 and 290 TEZ's work great in my Accura V2. Blackhorn 209 powder and just regular old Federal 209 primers. Elk, deer, and (poor) javelina-all quick kills.
