Good job. I'm right there with you on letting the boys miss school to go hunting. I get a lot of flack from coworkers for letting them miss so much school in the fall to hunt, but that time and memories can never be replaced. And guess what, they still get good grades and pass all there classes...
I'll agree with you on Turkey. I've never liked turkey until I started brining and smoking it, and still it's meh, ok! But I have to do it every year because my family and my wife's family love it. I would rather do a prime rib or smoke a brisket for Thanksgiving.

Most of the time I have pretty good luck with everything rehydrating. Once I put the water in, I will put a jacket or something over it to hold heat in and that seems to help.
About a month before hunting season I will start dehydrating leftovers of some of my favorite meals. Casseroles work particularly well. I do a lot of things that they say your not supposed to dehydrate too, like eggs and cheese and I've never had a problem. I use everything within 3 months...

The last 2 years I have gone into some of my "honey holes" for deer and elk only to find some dumbass with his brand new seek outside tipi set up right where it shouldn't be. I don't know if they expect to wake up, roll out of the tent and shoot something. But it has always been my M.O. to camp...
I downloaded a bunch of offline maps before my elk hunt and as soon as I went offline, all the roads and trails and private propery lines disappeared. It was a little frustrating going into a new area and feeling like you were going completely blind. The only thing that worked was the waypoints...
