Awesome! What others she. You drawn?
I put in for a few hunts but I realize that will likely amount to nothing more than part of my annual donation to the state.
I have a couple Trijicon Accupowers (same as the Accupoints just with battery powered illumination)…one in 3-9x and a 4-16x.
I don’t dial (use Mil reticles for hold overs) but nonetheless, I would say the Trijicon offerings are hard to beat for the money.
Have been very happy with them.
Yeah I’ve already decided 30 will be the absolute max…20 would be even better.
Trying to be mindful of the fact that whitetail are generally a little more jumpy than elk or mulies and them ducking the string is something I have to keep in mind.
Also, I’m sure being my first time, my nerves are...
Wow, that's a dream scenario right there...shoot one close enough you could spit on 'em. I can imagine the adrenaline dump after that encounter. And to have that happen your first year elk hunting no less.
The archery bug bit me and I bought my first bow this past year. One of my hunting goals for 2023 is to kill a whitetail with it. Went to the bow shop this weekend for a tune, built some new arrows, bought broadheads, etc. It got me thinking, I wonder what everyone's bow "stats" are on Hunt...
In your price range, you won't find a better shotgun than the Beretta A300 (or one of its predecessors...303, 390, 391, 3901). The 300 series Berettas are regarded by many as the best 3" field shotguns ever made, with many stories of guns getting into 6 figure shell counts with little cleaning...

I too have a '14 F-150 with the 5.0 and have been very happy with it. The first gen ecoboosts (which go through '16 in the half tons) can be a toss up.
Better performance but I'd say the 5.0s are more reliable across the board.
Previous truck, on the other hand, was a '09 Silverado...
A lot depends on how far you want to shoot and your budget. I’ll second @Wind Gypsy. I have the 3-9 Trijicon Accupower (the Credo is just the new version of the same scope with a different name) on an 18” barreled AR-10 and that scope does everything I need it to out to 500 yards.
I’ve been...
I went down this path not too long ago myself as I upgraded my .22 to a Bergara BMR. I, like you, didn’t want something super heavy and cumbersome and also didn’t want to spend a ton of money. I initially looked at the Leupold Rimfire options but after talking with the guys at CameraLand NY, I...
For what you’re doing and with the weather you describe, I’d look at the 5.11 TacLite pants.
I have a couple pairs that I work in / hunt in at our place in South Texas, so they see plenty of cactus and mesquite thorns. Very durable pants. Much cheaper than all the dedicated “hunting brand”...
